13 on Thursday : Road Blues

Thursday, September 25, 2008

For 3 years I have avoided driving because it causes stress and high blood pressure and at times even road rage; here are 13 things that I hate when driving (in the Philippines).

  1. Motorcycles weaving in and out of traffic.
  2. Jeepney drivers thinking they own the whole road. Thus cutting others off.
  3. Jeepney drivers smoke belching.
  4. Jeepney drivers' blasting radio.
  5. Taxi's honking their horns ALL the time.
  6. Drivers not giving way.
  7. Pedestrians crossing the road when there's a footbridge right above.
  8. Pedestrians crossing even if the light says stop.
  9. Not enough parking space.
  10. Roads too narrow and full of pot holes (where are our taxes going!?)
  11. Getting stuck in traffic.
  12. Flat tire in the middle of nowhere, on a date at midnight.
  13. Stopping in broad daylight(!) because the car overheated thinking someone on a bicycle is coming by to lend a hand only to be robbed.

Why would anyone cross a busy street when they don't have to? *shaking head at human foibles.*

Interesting list. I cannot dispute that these things are stressful for sure, but I doubt they'd in and of itself give you high blood pressure.
