Elderly Care & Better Projects
Tuesday, July 28, 2009
So, who was able to listen to GMA's final SONA yesterday? I did. I am okay with it. I am just glad she addressed her detractors and still did it with respect. There were projects pointed out like teaching the native Ifugao modern farming techniques to improve their agricultural know-how. As someone who is in the Agricultural business I am agreeable to this.
I hope that the next President will look into better projects like school, housing for the poor and even elderly care. My mother goes to this place near our house for the elderly and destitute once a month and she always tells me she is saddened by the fact that no one is doing something about the elderly. They are just put there by uncaring family members and left to die. Good if the elderly has family who's willing to take them in and take care of them 24/7 but what if there's no one? It is hard to find a nursing home that is well staffed and is affordable. For example, my 93 year old grandmother needs 24/7 round the clock monitoring. She doesn't sleep regularly now and is usually up in the wee hours. She needs assistance in peeing, pooping and walking. So much more difficult than caring for baby if you ask me because she has a mind of her own and she is quite a hard headed lady. Lucky for us, right now that's the job of my Aunt. My dad's younger sister. Without her, no one can surely take care of my Grandmother full time except if we put he in a nursing home. Which is why I am saying, it is vital to have the right one because that's our loved one right there. There are nursing home services like proper food, exercise and other recreational activities available in a nursing home that can be available too so it would be good for the elderly to be with other people other than herself.
