Windows To My Soul

Friday, July 10, 2009

I felt like wearing my contacts last weekend. Admittedly, I look weird! Heehee. But I like it because it made my face look lighter than my normal color. The good thing is I still have my 20-20 vision, but with all the PC/laptop use and reading at night I don't know how long that will last. I have already started squinting and whenever I use the PC too long my eye twitches. What does that mean? Does eye twitching mean my eyes are going bad? So anyway, naturally I started reading about proper eye care and I learned how important it is to have regular eye exams and eye tests. Eye twitching, although annoying, is said to be generally harmless. Some of its causes are stress, fatigue, prolonged staring or eye strain and lack of sleep. It doesn't mean though that my eye is going bad it just means I have to rest my eyes every few hours when using the PC. However, if the twitching lasts for several days or is painful then it is time to consult your physician or optometrist/ophthalmologist. We can never take vision care for granted. After all, our eyes are the windows of our soul. Right now, to avoid straining my eyes too much I wear glasses which has special tint to protect my eyes from the glare of the PC or my laptop. But I don't use them regularly. They still need a little getting used to.

I have also read about contacts and how to use them properly. Basically there are 12 simple ways to keep your eyes and contact lenses healthy and happy. In a gist, you have to store it properly and keep your contacts clean at all times. Also, put them on properly in a clean area without dust and most importantly never sleep with your contacts on. You can read more about contacts and eye care here.
