Choice or Flub?

Friday, January 30, 2009

Sometimes I think its just slow news week??? Why the heck are people making a big deal of Angelina's dress? Its not like she went to the Screen Actors Guild Awards with a totally horrendous dress.

Apparently, she wore her Max Azria gown backwards - in purpose or not I really don't care. Either way she looks fabulous.

Besides, the dress looks like it can be worth either way.

..and I am not even an Angelina fan. I am just saying. She looks fine. Leave her alone.

Money, Money Money!

Okay let's talk about money and how when not handled well can lead to someone's downfall. Let's say for example you are a single guy who's earning quite well and still living with your parents. That's a perfect life right? No big responsibilities, no one to send to school. Now as an outsider looking at his situation, he is living a good life, actually a very good life. He doesn't really pay rent and utilities yet and his income is even over the average so he can afford to splurge in others things like clothes, bags and even traveling.

However, upon closer inspection because of this person's "luxuries" he is already swimming in debt. Debt's for his credit card bills and random debts from loans he got to pay for those credit card bills. One way to help this young man out is to give him a good slap in the cheek and wake him up to the reality that he doesn't have money anymore so stop spending!

If that would happen to my friend, I'd do just that.

Then I'd suggest he take all his debts, pool it into one and consider debt consolidation. At least with this he can keep track of only one payable and hopefully he gets blinded by his big debt that he's afraid to swipe again. Heehee! There are many reasons to consolidate debt. There are 5 actually, but the main point is that this way can help you get out of the rut and avoid bankruptcy.

As much as I would have hoped this was not happening in real life - it is! And I think I know a few of those people too.

Hopefully, people who are into this situation right now can consider to negotiate debt's themselves. They can talk to their credit card company and negotiate the terms so that the debtor can pay their loans easily while the credit company gets paid in the process. Remember Becky Bloomwood in The Shopaholic Series? She was in total debt but her credit manager, who became her friend, helped her sort her money issues.

All I am saying is that if you are in a situation where its not even funny anymore, hiding bills inside drawers never bothering to open them - its time you seek help. And you better do it right now. Money does not grow in trees you know!

Knowing Your Credit Score

I only have one single credit card and its credit limit is so small my salary is bigger! I seldom use it because I'm paranoid it gets declined - and that for me is totally embarrassing don't you think? However, with our growing family and its needs I was wondering about getting a new card, maybe one with bigger credit limit so that in the future I may get a loan when I need it the most.

I was thinking of finding out my credit score online wherein its a totally free credit report . Its as easy as 1 2 3 and it would be very beneficial to keep track of your credit online. Also, with credit monitoring your identity can be protected as well with its daily internet monitoring, email alerts and more. I've seen one episode of CSI wherein one girls modus was to steal someone else's personal information and credit information by digging through that person's trash and thus would then assume that person's persona. One way to avoid that from happening is by constantly monitoring your credit so you spot right away if there are odd transactions.

Anyway, getting a free credit score report would be helpful in cases when you need to get a loan and lenders refer to your score as the bases if you are an good candidate for a loan or not. In the US where everything is governed with plastic it is crucial to have a good credit score to be able to get loans for cars, mortgages and medical loans. Although it is not very wise to keep on inquiring your running credit score because this may pull your score down especially if the inquiry happens in a short span of time.

Personally, I am not a big fan of credit cards because I've seen a lot of people get swamped with big amount of loans because of this. However, wise use of the credit card would be very beneficial in the long run. As long as you don't abuse it then its okay.

Dizzy Puke-Y!

Thursday, January 29, 2009

..I have always thought women who complain about morning sickness is over reacting. How bad can it be right?

I was wrong. So wrong.

I am always dizzy, always sleepy and "puke-y". I always look for green mangoes (I think because it helps me to be un puke-y) and I am always feeling really hot. I was so not like this during my first pregnancy (but you know I found out rather late already!) - I remember being sleepy but never dizzy.

Oh gosh, 7 more weeks to go before I can overcome my first trimester. And would you believe it? I think I am showing a little bump already!!! Or are these just fats!? I think fats.

Hah!

Pregnancy Update : Week 5

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Yup, we just find out!

Last Sunday, after bringing my sister to the airport, I got carsick and felt dizzy (I never get car sick) I was one day delayed from my period and I was feeling odd. I kinda thought it was too early to take a pregnant test, but I bought instead (got 2! to be sure).

When I got home, I immediately took the test and lo and behold, 2 single lines appeared meaning its POSITIVE. I am with child. Again. Everybody in our household was happy and hoping its a girl this time. If not, then that would be fine. As long as we have a healthy baby that is what matters.

I went to my OB yesterday to confirm and she said I was 5 weeks along the way. Pregnancy tests are usually accurate during this time already. We were actually planning the baby and its such a great news to know God gave it to us without much waiting.

Right now, I am always feeling exhausted and dizzy. I also have headache on top of everything else. I never had this kind of 1st trimester problem with my first child though. Hopefully it will all go away in a few weeks.

Here are a few things I found out:

WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH YOU

Your body is working overtime. You may feel exhausted and irritable. Running to the loo every few minutes doesn't help. This is due to your increased metabolism and growing uterus. Your breasts may be tender now and you may find that sleeping in a sports bra helps. Breast growth will slow within the next three weeks.

WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH YOUR BABY

During the next few days, your baby's heart will begin to beat. The embryo is now about 1.5 to 2.5mm long. All of your baby's major organs are under development and facial features, such as ears and eyes, begin to form. The neural tube, which will later be referred to as the spinal cord, will fuse this week. Buds appear that will soon be the arms and legs. This could be why you are so tired.

HEALTHY EATING

You don't really have to eat for two. On average a healthy woman of normal weight should only eat about 200 extra calories a day. Make sure you eat regularly and don't skip meals. It is advised that you keep away from raw or lightly cooked eggs, soft or blue cheese, liver and liver products. Wash all fruit and vegetables well.

FACT OF THE WEEK

If your first cup of coffee is a morning addiction, consider having hot milk with froth on the top instead. This won't be the same as having the coffee, but it will give your baby added calcium and avoid caffeine.

I really had to cut back on my coffee. I miss it!!! I always have 2 cups every morning. Anyway, its all good 8 more months to go!!^_^

Ovulation & Menstrual Cycle

I was wondering about my menstrual cycle and when exactly am I fertile!? Can you believe that after all the information overload in college and a bit in high school I still could not remember when I have the largest chance of getting pregnant!? Was it 5 days before my 1st day of my period? Or was it 3-5 days after my period??

No wonder I got pregnant unexpectedly the first time. I had no clue.

Let’s talk about some common facts and fallacies first. Here are some questions I’ve found in forums that are often asked by women. Now I am no OB so it’s best to discuss these things with your doctor first before doing anything drastic.

Question 1: Is it true I cannot get pregnant when I have my period and we have unprotected sex?

Answer: (totally not my answers, these are from different sources all over the internet; again I am no expert I just wanted to put it all here for the sake of knowledge and discussion)

Surprisingly ladies, its a big resounding yes yes yes! One can get pregnant when having unprotected sex during your period. Some ovulation may occur before your period had stopped. So having unprotected sex at any time, including when you have your period, is risky.

More about that here.

Question 2: When does a woman ovulate?

Answer : A friend once told me that ovulation occurs midway your cycle count, meaning if you are like me who's cycle is at 34 days then I will ovulate 14 days after the 1st day of my period.

Now you know I don't believe her, so I looked up some ovulation calculator and in fairness to her it was pretty correct calculation. I was fertile during that day and 2 days before and after that as well.

You can find the info on conception here and if you want to calculate when you are ovulating you can try this.

Question 3: Is there a "safe" period for unprotected sex?

I used to think 3 days after my period or even 5 is a "safe" time to have unprotected sex without the risk of getting pregnant, now that I've done a little research of my own, I have read that unprotected sex anytime has a risk of getting pregnant (read Q#1). Different women ovulate in different times so I guess the safest way is to know your cycle if not then just use some birth control method if you don't want to have a baby.

So there you go some basic information on ovulation and conception. Hope it helped you in some way or the other.

My Goal

Thursday, January 22, 2009

In line with my goal of losing a few pounds, I told myself that I do about 30 minutes in our exercise bike every morning and 30 minutes at night.

Now, I hate that machine. My legs become sore after only 2 minutes on it - and that's set to the easy mode! Yeah, I know I am such a wimp, but I really have no choice because I am gaining weight as we speak. I think, this is due to the fact that I have stopped nursing Ozzy and that all my extra calories goes to my tummy and arms instead.

...I feel so uninspired to exercise. I wonder if I get inspired if I get one of those high tech elliptical equipment?

Cute Blogger Award

I love getting awards; thanks for remembering me Sharque!^_^ I've been such as bad blogger lately, I've not bloghopped like I wanted to because of so much going on in my offline life.

.....that's other than the fact that our internet connection has been having problems...its weird how our wireless laptops have connections and our LAN connections can't connect!? What's up with that!??

Also, its been intermittent...so it can't be relied on especially if I do my online purchases for our business. It's hard but hopefully, my sister the expert can figure it out. Anywhoo - anyone else in the Visayas area having problems with their Globelines connection?

So..my award!

Goodbye Turtle

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

Did I tell you about the demise of one of Ozzy's pet turtle?? No? Well, it was partly my fault and I really feel bad about it.

It was with us for about 2 weeks only. I really liked to have a pet for Ozzy to teach him a bit of responsibility. So anyway, how did he die you ask?

What happened was that, I have read somewhere how turtles need to fed outside their tank to keep the water clean for them. So, every lunch time for 30 minutes I would put them into a separate container and feed them. Since they would also be under indirect sunlight during this time I just let them be and leave them while I do my stuff.

Photobucket

Unfortunately, ants also wanted a piece of their food. So ants went swarming and also started biting the turtles. My brother who saw this immediately cleaned and shooed the ants away. At first both turtles were fine, but by dinner time, one of them began showing signs of getting weak. After a few hours it finally went to Turtle Heaven. Poor little one, I really am sorry. If I only knew....

Anyway, we buried it and Ozzy said his goodbye.

Don't Hate Me

I don't want to sound like those girls who complain about their weight even if they are totally slim, however, I did a very good job concealing my flaws in my pictures that when I say I gained weight nobody (well those who see's pictures of me only) agrees with me. I really honestly did gain weight and I am determined to lose it with or without the help of Apidexin.

Anyway, my Hubby, sister and brother can attest to the sad fact that after the Christmas and New Year I have gained a few unwanted fats here and there. Personally when I gain weight I gain around the arms and tummy area. My brother and sister even joked that if I was pregnant its okay..my tummy is big enough already nobody would notice the difference! Imagine?

I did start to "try" to cut back on my eating but after seeing the 2 half gallon ice cream in the freezer; I decided that I would start - after its all gone....What?? Chocolate is my favorite flavor! So...that's it then, I would start my after 6 diet and cutting back on sweets after all the ice-cream is gone.

Okay.^_^

My Monthly Horoscope says:

This year - 2009 my horoscope says for this month:

JANUARY

LOVE: Your attempts to patch things up with your partner will fail, not because of you but because of his or her personal problems.

WORK: You’ll be very tired and will look for a diversion. You’ll tend to not give your all at work and one of your bosses will express disappointment.

HEALTH: The Stars suggest you dedicate yourself more time. Do some reading or go to the movie theater.

Got it from here.

The love part? No comment, fortunately for me Hubby and I are stronger than ever. Regarding work, yes, I totally agree. That's why I decided to minimize blogging because no matter how lax my dad/boss is he totally deserved my 101% when its his time.

After I've finished reading the Twilight Saga I've never had the chance to read again. I miss reading. I miss "escaping" to a different place and time. Anywhoo, whenever I can I will read again; for now..I am late for work!!

Oppps!

HS Prom Tips

Friday, January 16, 2009

I am really hooked at watching Gossip Girl and 90210. I know its theme revolves on high school students and their lives but I can't help it. Even though I am 25 I still enjoy watching these kinds of shows.

Aside from the outfits, the love stories, family issues and relationship issues...I can actually get a lot of insights and realization by watching these shows. One of the most obvious learning is that you can never know a person or judge a person by just looking at them. Many hold different stories and secrets. Anyway, one of the most memorable things in high school for most is the prom! And for ladies like me, finding the perfect prom dresses. Am I right ladies? Good thing, for the 21st century high school girl, there are lots of choices online and offline for prom dresses and prom advice.

Looking for the perfect accessories, shoes and choice of prom dresses can be a nerve racking ordeal to some; but I really do remembering enjoying looking over lots of magazines and catalogs just to find the perfect one.

Anyway, its still early on the year though but 2 months is a good enough time to start preparing for the Prom. This year - I may not know anyone going to the Prom this March but I have a few suggestions and tips for them for the big day! For the boys, start making friends with the girls in your class or other classes so that when the day comes for you to ask someone to be your date it wouldn't be too hard or awkward. Maybe you are secretly crushing on someone from your class and she has no idea, when you ask her she feels uncomfy because she doesn't know you that well? So, to avoid that be friendly and a perfect gentleman even as early as now. Also, on the night be on you best behavior, don't drink too much punch, ask the lady to dance and bring her home on a reasonable hour.

For the ladies, done wear prom dresses that are too revealing. Leave some to the imagination. If you don't like the person who asked you to the prom, decline his offer to be his date right away and don't wait for the last minute to cancel. Give the poor boy enough time to look for a new date. And if you're having trouble looking for a dress that's fabulous and affordable, why don't you try these prom dresses Jovani created for his collection for 2009. Their simply divine. Don't just take my word for it, go over there now.

I heart my Canon Ixus

I am so enjoying my Canon Ixus Cam's feature that's called color accent. What it does is it chooses one color to accent and then all the other colors in the picture will be in black & white. Cool eh?

Just look at me and my friends in this picture!
The red popped out.

Here's a shot of my son Ozzy and his aunts.
Now the blue popped out!

...and this one is another feature of the cam which is color swap wherein you can change the color of certain objects within the shot and make it into a totally different color. Amazing eh? I love Canon.

Now...if only I can convince Hubby to get me a DSLR next time.

Cold Weather

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

I love the fact that during nights we don't need the electric fan or air conditioner anymore because its cold enough already. However, I feel its just too cold at times. Its pretty windy too..although there's no typhoon or anything like that I am still worried because with the cold weather come cold season.

I have caught the bug and now hubby has it too. Right now, we were supposed to go on a date and watch Bedtime Stories but was canceled because he had slight fever. He should get well real soon because his flight is this Friday already; I know how strict some countries are (like Hongkong for his stop over) about checking the temperature of those coming in their country.

Hubby has allergic rhinitis and because of that our room does not have curtains and the sheets are constantly changed to make sure it does not gather dust. I was contemplating on getting Discount Blinds instead. During Ozzy's afternoon naps; he gets bothered when the light comes in.

Anyway, I'm off, turning in early to take care of hubby. I will be watching GG's Episode 15! Yey.

I've never noticed until now. This blog lost 1 point in the google ranking scheme. This blog used to be PR3. Then after a few months, it was down to 2.

Hopefully it will stay at 1 and not gooo further down and become zero! That would be too sad. (well, for my blogging life really)

Anywhoo, any one of you affected by google ranking lately?

So, what is Debt Consolidation?

I've come across this term far too many times in other sites and I've come to understand it as pooling together all of the person's debt into one and concentrate on paying that one single loan instead of a lot of little one's. That's the easiest way to put it.

With the holidays over and the cloud of smoke from all the partying dying down, some people face the inevitable and realize they had too much loans made last year! So what is the best thing to do? Why not try debt consolidation? By consolidating debts, one can have the advantage of lowered interest rate of the new loan, only one single loan to look out for, you avoid missing payments on existing bills and you can even maintain a good credit rating.

There are many types of debt consolidation out there. Imagine you are a student perhaps, burdened by college loans and unsure how to pay your debt, then you can try government debt consolidation. Remember that this is not a grant but an aid from the government (DOE) so that it will be easier for you to pay off your debts and start living your life.

Other forms of loans different from a federal student loan, such as credit card loans, rental debt or medical bills are not applicable to this type of loan. For loans incurred due to medical bills, one can look into medical debt consolidation wherein in this type of loan you can be aided in making sure you pay your medical debts on time. Failure to pay medical debts can lead to poor credit score and even bankruptcy. Now, who wants that!? Surely not me.

Anyway its a new year, time for a new you, why not start the year right by paying off those pesky loans so that you can live your life, debt free.

Uncertainty

8 days into the new year and I am feeling anxious. People would ask what our plans are for 2009 and if Ozzy and I will follow Josh to Norway. I honestly can't say for certain what we will decide on.

For now, I am happy staying put here in the Philippines. Sure there are corrupt officials, the streets are dirty, people are undisciplined and poverty is everywhere - but I grew up here and I really love the Philippines, Cebu to be exact.

Everything here is 15 minutes away - and the beaches are divine. When we had our family reunion a few days ago, we went Island Hopping. Ozzy hates sand and is scared of the beach, but he was having fun riding around the boat and when water splashes to his face.

I was playing around with my Canon Ixus 80IS camera and found this great feature called Color Accent. In this shot, only the blue in Ozzy's suit was colored. I also love his smile here.

2009 so far has been a hectic year, hopefully that does not mean my 2009 would be super busy - as if 2008 wasn't busy enough. The future is uncertain but one thing is for sure, love and family will always be in the center of it.

I am so loving Facebook you guys. I've made an account about 2 months ago and I am completely hooked. Its a hybrid of friendster, multiply and even YM. All in one.

Also, its has gazillion applications and its easy to add and look for people you may know. One of the coolest things that happened for me was when I met some new cousins I never knew I had with it.

My dad and mom even have an account. Sometimes its weird seeing them post pictures, even comment on mine. But I know someone who's grandma has an account! Now that's super cool. You think? Anyway, add me!

See you there.

B'fly in Action

Tuesday, January 6, 2009

In 10 days hubby will fly back to Norway for work. I can't believe the one month that he is here just flew by. We were having such a grand time - and I guess all good things must come to an end.

But before that I really hope we can still squeeze some last minute family (just the 3 of us) bonding. I've looked into some Outer Banks for vacation ideas; but I think we'll keep it simple and close to home this time around. My body has still not adjusted to the fast paced life that was Christmas and New Year.

Heyyyy have you ever seen butterflies "in action"? Well, saw them once and they even let us take a picture. That's my finger by the way. Cool eh?

Turtle 1 and Turtle 2

I still haven't bought that watch I've been eying for a long time. There are lots of little items that I was suppose to buy that got bumped off the list due to more pressing use of the money we have saved. I was suppose to look at those Victorinox Swiss Army watches for Hubby but I settled on giving him a nice Jacket and shoes instead.

We also got little Ozzy his Christmas gift, 2-green turtles. I asked him what we would name his first ever pet, he said, Turtle 1 and Turtle 2.

Very practical name indeed. I laughed out loud when he suggested these. Maybe we can just name them T1 and T2 instead.

Family Reunion

Happy New Year people!!!

How was your extra long vacation? Mine was spent mostly with my family and friends. We had this reunion so all my cousins from my mom's side of the family was present. I honestly had a grand time hanging out with my cousins even though they were younger than me, we had fun dancing and drinking (in moderation of course!)

They stayed in my aunt's newly built two-story house. That was the place where all the craziness erupted. On the eve of the New Year we sang the karaoke - even my uncles showed their goofy side. They sang songs like Buchiki, Katawan and Celebration. We were taking gazillion pictures, one of my cousin even said his cam had 1800++ pictures!

That's why I never had the chance to update any of my blogs. I was super busy the whole Christmas and New Year. Hopefully, I can get all things done before the end of the week, I still have those Moroccan lanterns to review. My aunt - whose house has this Moroccan feel to it would love these kinds of lamps. Maybe I can get Moroccan lanterns for her as a gift.

Toddles.
