Some Scary Thought!

Tuesday, December 29, 2009

Something bizarre happened to Mom last December 26, while in the province, she heard wailing from our next door neighbor. Turns out, exactly one year ago the woman in that house died of a car accident. It was said she had enemies - even her husband who was with her the night their car crashed was suspected of foul play. Nobody prayed for her soul and nobody remembered to even finish the prayers for her 1st death anniversary. I used to remember buying stuff from her convenience store, she was a nice lady I thought. I never would have guessed she would die in such a brutal car crash. It made me think of life and how fragile it is. We can only do so much to prepare of our death like save up, prepare our will, choose on the best insurance quotes and even choose a prime resting place; however the most important thing of all is that we should prepare ourselves to face the Lord. That is if He's the one we are about to face! Imagine if not...then we too would be wailing and asking for prayers. Now, that's a scary thought!

A Conundrum

The future is still very uncertain for us. For one, Hubby is still debating whether or not to go back overseas to find work or not. His VISA will expire in March and up to now he has still not renewed his contract with his previous employer. We were debating whether or not to wait around here for work, or fly back there (anyway he already has a ticket so might as well use it) and wait there. The pros of waiting there is that employers will always favor you because you can start work right away. The cons of course is that he will have to leave us again by January with no assurance of a job. However, if he stays here, he fears he'll never get a job there again and its a waste because it was a very good opportunity. Its a conundrum actually. Nothing is ever certain. Its like asking which came first, the chicken or the egg, chances are everyone will have their different opinions. Stay, go, wait a while...Arrrg. The only thing we are sure of right now is that he has to bring back Davidoff cigars for his friends waiting there. Its a bribe if some sort because they will let him stay with them for free. I really don't know what to do - so I asked a sign. For now, prayers and faith in the Lord is the only thing I can do.

Manic Monday #194

Were you considered popular in high school? Why or why not?
I was one of those average girls. Tried to be friends with everyone. Not too loud but not too shy either.

Did you have an enemy or bully when you were young?
When I was younger, in gradeschool I had an enemy, a boy whose sole purpose was to annoy me, turns out he just wanted to get my attention. hmpf.

If you could go on a road trip with any person (dead or alive) who would you go with and where would you go?
Husband of course. Maybe go to Europe and tour there. But I am sure anywhere with him would be fun!

Dinner Tonight!

Monday, December 28, 2009

I've been neglecting my blogs for the past couple of months already if you have noticed I have very little updates about my life, my thoughts and random stuff. It seems my offline life have become overly hectic with the new baby and lack of household help. Although the Husband is here to lend a helping hand, lets all admit Daddy's (men) aren't really that patient with kids.

On a different note, I am quite excited for our company's Christmas dinner tonight. Its just a simple dinner since we are such a small business. Hope I win the raffle! LOL.

Education Is Key

Wednesday, December 23, 2009

Education is very important. Cliche as it may sound, a good education can give the person the confidence and credentials that he needs to land a good job and start a career. That is why even though my son is still 3 years old, I am stressing out where to send him for preschool!! I have my heart set on a certain school, known for its strict discipline and high outcome of student leaders; however it is a bit pricey for me and I am having doubts whether we can afford it or not. With the current state of our economy and recession, I don't want to regret to have bitten more that I can chew. Still education is a key to a better future and I want my children to have the best possible future, so I am still open to enrolling him in a top school. Otherwise, I may have to find find student loans just to get by. I know the Lord will provide. I just gotta have faith!

Top Baby Names of 2009!

I got this information from Yahoo News. 2009's TOP Baby Names include Jacob.

Cute!

Topping the list for the boys names are:
1. Aiden
2. Ethan
3. Jackson
4. Jayden
5. Jacob

...and for the girls
1. Isabella
2. Sophia
3. Emma
4. Olivia
5. Ava

I was telling myself I wanted the name Emma if I had a girl. Ava sounds delightful too. Before you get any idea, no we are not trying for a third child. Having 2 boys is enough for now. I just like to think of future names for now.

Trend Setter

Different people have their different "things". Some paint, some take photos, others are foodies, others are bloggers and then there are those who are fashionistas. I am the latter. I live and breathe fashion. Ever since I can remember, I've always been interested in clothes, shoes and anything to do with dressing up. My style icon is Audrey Hepburn - classic and chic. Nowadays, I've been experimenting on my look and style. I am into anything flashy and unique pieces call out to me. Found in my wardrobe right now are girly day dresses, fun tops, leggings and shorts. Believe it or not, I seldom wear jeans because they make me feel casual. I am especially loving this vintage dress, however, I am NOT loving the price. It's too expensive for me, but I know I can find a piece just like it which is not as expensive.

Like any fashionista out there - I am into style but also versatility. I don't dive into a trend for I know it won't last. I buy pieces that I know can stand the test of time. I shop for cheap finds on online stores and because of that I have become interested myself to start an business selling online. The only thing stopping me right now is that I don't have any idea how to start one! I could get e commerce services to help me get started. I basically know how to maintain a site - starting it up and promoting it is a different thing. Careful study of the business and planning should be done in order for the business, no matter how small - to succeed.

Now, I don't only want to be a trend setter, I also want to give fashion forward women out there an online store that can cater to their every whim and fashion desire.

Christmas In Our Hearts

I've posted my new year's resolution in my other blog and one of the things I intend to be dead serious about is saving and being frugal during 2010. Last year started out very good for us. We were expecting a baby, we just bought a property and Hubby's contract was just renewed by his employer in Norway. However, this year - his contract was not (yet) renewed. It is a bitter sweet homecoming because we know that he has no job waiting for him in January. I try to have a positive outlook about it thinking that its probably for the best. This way, he can get to spend time with his 2 boys before he's off to be assigned in a far away place again.

This 2010 where our eldest will start schooling already and the property we have bought have not been paid in full yet it is very important to save for the rainy days. I vow to keep my resolution and avoid online shopping at all costs! That is my downfall you know. When I see the words "discounts" and "free shipping" I get too excited to click the ORDER button without thinking. Aside from those 2 major expenses we still have a lot of immunization shots for the baby (which is really pricey!) and auto insurance payments.
Although I am very happy this time because we've stuck to our budget for the gifts and realized that budgeting during holidays is not that hard to do as long as you are committed and don't over indulge on dinners and expensive gifts. Hubby and I decided not to give each other gifts this Christmas, and that each others presence is enough. After all Christmas is in our hearts and not in the gifts we receive.

Last Day Of Work For The Year

Yipee!!!

Last day of work. Possibly last day of work for the year for most of you. Sadly for me I will have to put in some hours on the 28th and 29th. I don't mind though because Hubby is home and he can help with the kids. Right now, I am just finishing up some reports and tying lose ends especially with some problematic shipments.

This year, I'd be spending Christmas Eve with my in-laws here in Cebu. It's been so long since I've spent Christmas here in Cebu. Usually, I spend it in Leyte or in Siquijor with my in-laws. We are planning to have our Noche Buena and Mass on the 24th. On Christmas day until the 26th we are going to Shangrilla. I can't wait. It will be Jacob's first time swimming. I hope he will enjoy it as much as his brother will for sure.

What are your plans for Christmas?

Christmas Recipes

Monday, December 21, 2009

Pigging out! That's why I normally do during the Holidays - of course other than shopping. I realized its more fun giving than receiving. That reminds me!!! I need to buy something for my godchild. Ozzy and Shoti's Godparents were all so kind enough to remember my kids during this season.

Anyway - been thinking of what food to prepare for our Noche Buena. We are going to spend Christmas Eve with my in-laws and we are assigned to bring something. Other than lechon, ham and pasta which are Christmas staples Hubby would want something else to prepare like fish. What else is a good food to prepare? Salad? A new kind of pasta? What??? I won't think of the reprecautions that is brought about by pigging out - although I am down to 100lbs right now, I can always turn to Fastin to help me slim down after the Holidays right?

Baby Jacob @ 3 Months

Baby Jacob is such a talker. Whenever he's awake he likes to be included in our conversations. He coo's and ahh's when being talked to. He doesn't like it when he is made to lay down. He likes to sit up be carried facing front. I can tell this is going to be a more social baby than his big brother Ozzy.

He is starting to practice rolling over that's why we are extra careful when he is placed in the bed. He sleeps almost 5 to 6 hours through the night which is a very good thing. At least I get my rest then. He is still 100% breastfed and I intend to keep it that way for as long as I can. However, it is hard especially when I need to leave for long periods of time because he hates drinking expressed milk in bottles. He would fuss and choose to wait for me instead.

Some more information and developmental milestones for your 3-month old baby here.

Gifts For Men

Friday, December 11, 2009

Choosing gifts for women and kids are easy, however I hope I can say the same for men! For days now I still have not decided on what to give out to my Father and Hubby. I guess I'd be checking out belts, wallets and shirts for them.

For my dear Hubby, I saw these Elie Tahari navy leather "Andre" jacket that might be perfect for him! But it is super expensive, one that I cannot afford so maybe this clove merino wool 'Leo' v-neck sweater is a better (and affordable) option for me.

What do you think is a good gift idea for men?

College Yearbook

Thursday, December 10, 2009

Finally! After 5 years, our college yearbook is finished and ready for pickup. I am going to pick up mine later and maybe drop by a nearby bazaar to check out if I can buy a few things for those in my Christmas list. Actually I am very excited to see our yearbook, its fun looking back and checking out how much we've all changed since then. From the very naive and hopeful students to jaded and super busy yuppies. Before I looked like I was taking appetite suppressants because I was skinny, actually I was not. I was skinny because I was too busy with school and of course extra curricular activities. I was an officer then and had many other extra stuff going on. I miss college. It was the best 5 years of my life. Now, many of my classmates have gone abroad to work and those of us left here are pretty much busy with all our different lives. We seldom see each other anymore. Good thing there's Facebook, that's the only thing we have in common now. Hopefully we can reconnect and maybe have dinner this Holiday season.

Bvlgari Omnia Collection

Wednesday, December 9, 2009

I am just loving my newly discovered scent. The Bvlgari Omnia collection (in Crystalline and Amethyste smells soooo good!) I am not a perfume gal, I am more of the cologne gal because I get dizzy with strong odors, but this one I can live with. I love them. Also, the 3 came with a chic pouch which I used to put my cellphone Omnia phone in. Heehee. What a coincidence they have the same name.

1 Hour Of Jogging?

I've been having lots of compliments lately due to my supposed "weight loss". My friends are asking if I am taking any pills and are asking for my recommendation regarding which is the best weight loss pill out there. I am sorry to say, I actually don't have a clue which one is effective. There are so many out in the market right now that I can't keep track which is the best. Anyway, there's no secret really to how I lost the weight. Since I don't diet and I only do minimal exercise, the main reason for getting back in shape only 2 months after I gave birth is that I breastfeed exclusively. I nurse baby Jacob every 3 hours. That means what I take in, I give to him. Did you know you can burn as much as 500 calories a day just by breastfeeding. That's like doing 1 hour of jogging! On top of that, taking care of 2 boys plus having a full time job is no easy feat. Still, I am not perfect, my tummy is super flabby that's why I still do my crunches whenever I can.

No Way!

Today is such a hectic day for me. We went to the Pedia this morning and I brought the 2 boys. Jacob was scheduled for his 2nd does of pneumococcal vaccine. I had to bring Joshua because he was having cough and colds. To top it off, he was also running a slight fever and I think its because of an infection in his finger. You see his middle finger had a cut on the side of the nail..I think he got it because of too much nail biting - now the tip is swollen and is looking really bad. He didn't like to show his finger to the doctor at first screaming,"no way, no way!" LOL

Anyway, when he finally did allow the pedia to look, true enough it was already infected. He has to take antibiotics for 7 days. Come to think of it, Joshua always has issues with his fingers. He once had a nail fall off and now this. Hopefully, the booboo will be gone in no time.

Hohoho!

I just had to share this picture of my Jacob, this was taken a few days ago, he looks so cute in his little cap and red socks. He is almost 3 months old now, he giggles a lot and coos when we talk to him. He sleeps longer during the night as well which is very good for me.

Anyway, I love this picture so much I was thinking of putting it in a Christmas card or something. I never had the chance to send out birth announcements when he was born, I also did not give out invitation cards when he was baptized, I hope we can at least get a decent family picture when hubby arrives in a few days. This way we can make personalized Christmas cards to give out to our family and friends. I am sure that's fun and its a great way to introduce the newest member of our family.

Unlimited Call/Limited Work

Thank God the nanny agreed to stay longer. She was supposed to leave on the 10th, when I talked to her yesterday she said she'll stay as long as we need her. We've been having trouble looking for a replacement especially since the Holidays is near. There are lots of activities lined up for this Month and it would be really helpful to me if she stays. I am so hating this unlimited txt/call service being offered by networks, our housemaid and nannies find boyfriends and get married easily. They also do limited work because they are in the cell most of the time. We had one that was with us for a while already, she was good around the house, quiet but friendly - she left because she wanted to get married even though she was still a teenager then! Come to think of it, most of our maids left because of boyfriend related reasons. Hmpf.

I hope my nannies reasons for leaving is really because she will join her brother in Bacolod and not because her BF is there. Haii. I hope she changed her mind!

Fun Games At Home

When Mom and Dad went to the States a few weeks back, they were able to go to a nice Casino and play slots. Although they did not win big, it was all for fun. I've tried playing slots myself and I won a reasonable amount of money which I used to buy shoes. If I had the luxury of time, I'd play slots again, however I don't have time so I guess I will try my luck in online slot games instead. Its better because I don't have to go out, get dressed up to play. I can play anytime in the comfort of my own room.

Online Slots

Monday, December 7, 2009

There are many ways to have fun online, one way - my Hubby's fave is through online casinos. He is into poker, but lately he's been trying online casinos for real money with slots. The great thing about this is that its cheaper because he doesn't have to go out and travel to a real casino to play. Since slots is basically a game of chance, you can choose to play from the many different kinds so you won't get bored. If you have extra time and money, try it out for yourself and see what fun it can offer.

Joshua and Jacob

It's a delight watching my baby grow. Right now he enjoys cooing and making adorable baby sounds. Whenever I talk to him or sing to him he responds with a cute smile that can melt any heart.

At the rate he is growing, it seems he will be a bigger boy than his big brother. I've taken a picture of him and his Ahia when they were the same age and look how they have similar features. See for yourself.

This picture was taken when they were both 2months old. Joshua is the one in the right while Jacob is in the left. The major difference is that Jacob has chubbier cheeks than his Kuya. Well, he's chubbier in general. His arms, his legs.....I can't resist stealing kisses whenever I can.

3rd year

Wednesday, December 2, 2009

There are countless material things I would want for Christmas (like an iPhone and iphone accessories to name a few) but what I really desire for Christmas is for our family to be complete.

Hubby left last January and a few days after that I found out I was expecting. He was scheduled to come home December, thus he has never seen or kissed our second son yet. I can't even begin to imagine how lonely that must be like. Sure, I complain a lot about how I never have enough rest because of the two boys, still I would never change it for a thing. Seeing them grow up before my very eyes, everyday is a miracle for me.

Thank you for all your sacrifices Chi, Happy 3rd year anniversary. See you in a few days!!!

Wanted: Nanny

These days I am so sleep deprived that once I get the chance to sleep - even for just a few minutes I will. This resulted to lots of aches and stiff neck because I have weird sleeping positions....and just when I thought the kids, the nanny and I have developed a good sense of camaraderie and schedule - the nanny said she wants to go.

Anyway, the nanny just asked permission if she can go home already. She was telling me she wanted to relocate to Bacolod because her brother is there. She has a very flimsy reasoning which makes me believe that its her boyfriend that's living there. The way she was talking seems like she was just looking for an excuse, any excuse so she will be allowed to go. It seems all she needs is my go signal and the exit signs then she's off. I told her I will allow her to go home as long as she will have to wait until we find a replacement first. I simply can't live without a nanny right now when we only have 1 housemaid remaining in the house. She doesn't seem to be in a hurry which is good - I really hope she changes her mind. Too bad because I really like her. She is patient and loves the kids. Oh well.

So there..wanted NANNY!!!
