How’s things?

1. How has your sleep been lately? Are you getting any? Is it fitful?
It's been pretty crazy because the baby has yet again changed his sleeping pattern. For a few weeks he was able to sleep continuously at night; now he would wake up with the slightest noise. Arrg. Also, my allergies have been acting up (at night and morning!) so I keep on waking up. I love my baby to bits but I can't wait for him to grow up a bit more so that he would sleep longer and thus I can sleep longer.

2. How’s your general health lately?
...aside from my colds; I am fine. A bit sleepy but still energetic enough to do the things I need to do.

3. How is your mental state these days? Feeling okay upstairs?
Haha. I dunno, its been really quiet up there.LOL

Hubby is gonna get mad at me for saying this but I've not submitted any application for a job in Norway yet!

I've been meaning to Chi, I swear.

It's just that lately, work has piled up and the household needs extra hands because were lacking 1 housemaid. I've been looking for Admin jobs which I can do, h3ck even secretarial jobs or document controller jobs are fine with me.

Many of the employers have requirements such as able to operate cad drawing and other tools. I want to bump myself in the head for not listening to our instructor back in college! I mean, I remember taking the course but I don't remember learning anything from it!

Gosh.

I feel so stupid.

This picture made me remember college and how fun it was. My friends and I would write notes to each other instead of listening to the teach. Now I know why I didn't learn anything. LOL

Here's calculus for you!

'Amp Up The Creams

My life is pretty boring, monotonous at times.

I work at home 8-5PM. In between that I am a mother to 2 spunky boys. I rarely go out of the house. My usual route is just groceries or quick dinners with friends. Sometimes there's the occasional out of town trips. That's it.

...so you can imagine how simply boring I am.

Very boring that the highlight of my day today was when I met someone from our bank whom I always talk with on the phone only said,"She didn't expect that I looked very young."

Not bad for someone in her late-twenties with 2 kids ei? I thank my Mom and Dad for the good genes. Also, that means my eye cream and night cream are both working.

Something's Got To Give

I am sorry for not updating as much.

I guess work has its sneaky way of coming up left and right leaving me with less time to blog and even less time to bloghop. With Ozzy's school coming up, some important company changes and household stuff to do - I don't have the luxury of time to do my usual blog sideline. Oh well. I haven't had enough sleep too. One of these days, something's got to give. I just hope I don't get sick.

All this busy-ness of mine has a few benefits though. For one, I won't be needing any miracle pills or fat burners because I've been losing weight due to skipping meals. When I am too tired at times, I don't feel like eating. Since I am nursing my youngest, I still eat but only a few spoonfuls and that's it. I've been also limiting my intake of sweets (I can't live without dessert!) lately. Besides, if I don't lose the weight that way, I am sure the heat (34-36 degrees, ack!) have created a mini-sauna in our room that even if I don't move at all I sweat like a piggy.

So anyway, so much for updates. I am just rambling on here. More stories later.

And...here we go!

1. GLEE never fails to make me smile. There has been a lot of buzz online about the latest episode of Glee where the iconic Jollibee (a Filipino owned fast-food chain) was seen in the background; while most of the Filipinos felt happy about it, some say "So what!", in my opinion, for those who feel indifferent about it, let the others express their happiness over the little things. The Philippines has so much negative things going on and this piece of news is a welcome break from all the talk of Politics and such.

2. I'm looking forward to our weekend @ Imperial Palace.

3. The steady hum of the electric fan is what I'm listening to right now.

4. Potato salad must have POTATOES in it!

5. Cream cheese was the best thing I ate today.

6. Today was painful; I hurt my middle finger when it got stuck in the door as I was closing it - rather loudly *ouch*.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to finishing, tomorrow my plans include going to a nearby resort with my family, I plan to take loads of pictures and Sunday, I want to hear mass and rest!

Energy Efficient Green Home.

I was reading this great article about a local couple who made it a point to "go green" when designing their dream home. Their house was deemed, the Green House of Talamban, Cebu. Coincidentally, Green is also the couples last name. Glen Green, an American who married a Cebuana used the natural elements of nature to conserve energy. For example, light come naturally through the glass blocks and the wind is regulated by ventilators. Can you believe there's no air-conditioner in their 3-story home. The couple also has water tanks to store rain water. “It is all about using wisely the resources that God has given us and not being wasteful of these", said Green who is currently a teacher of Biology and Architecture in the University of San Carlos- Talamban Campus with a PhD in Earth and Planetary Science.

(photos by: Samuel C. Rottiers, CNU Intern)

In building my own dream house, I will keep all this in mind. Right now, without sounding preachy, I urge everyone to do what they can to go green and save the earth. After all, we only have one earth. Why not plant a tree in your backyard? Have a compost pit? We have the latter in our house. My mom made sure of this. As for the tree, I am happy to say I contributed to that. One time, we got a Mango seedling as a gift item for purchasing my curling iron. While I was truly excited for my curling iron, I was equally happy for the mango seedling. I've always wanted to plant a tree, I just never got around to buying a seedling. More trees mean cooler air especially during these months where the sun is pure torture. With temperatures reaching 34 degrees Celsius, the air-conditioner is full blast almost 12 hours a day. Why not install more ventilation into your home? I've read about Penguin Windows, a company which sells high-quality replacement windows to homeowners who want to make their homes safer, more attractive and energy-efficient.

Any other green tips out there fellow earthlings?

@ 8 months.

Thursday, May 20, 2010

It's getting too quiet around here. I've been too lazy to blog lately.

There's so much stuff going on offline that I am left with no time to blog on the side. Heck I have not even watched the latest episode of Glee (wherein the famous Bee was seen in the background!) and I have not watched the season finale of Gossip Girl (gasp!). Aside from that, online shopping is getting a hold of me. Eversince I used ebay.ph once to purchase my SLR, I can't stop clicking on that "Watch This Item" button. The possibilities are endless from handbags to gadgets.

I am especially eying to buy a new SLR bag, a UV filter and a leather case for my phone. No worries, they are all paid for by the friendly neighborhood Sheriff. Without my online sideline, I can never afford these extra luxuries.

Moving on.........what am I up to besides work? Well, being a full time mom of course, my youngest recently turned 8-months and he can't stop chewing on everything that crosses his path. Babies! Tsk. You buy them all sorts of chew toys but in the end they decide that chewing on your cell phone is much more fun.

But he's the cutest so I forgive him.

...he is now super fast at crawling. You can't leave him in his mat for even a few seconds because he'll just go anywhere. Once I caught in just in time - he was crawling towards the comfort room! Acck! So anyway, he is also able to pull himself up to a standing position while holding on to a furniture while 'cruising'.

While it is fun seeing him reach a milestone, I've had my share of scares because he is prone to bumps along the way.

..but he is a happy, healthy baby all in all. He eats his baby goop awwww I mean food without much prodding (except when its Broccoli! hahaha) and he says "mama" a lot too. More updates later! Xoxo

10th Photo Meme

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

...here's something I've not been in a long time - got tagged!

Thanks Mhay. I've been tagged to join the 10th Photo tag.

Here are the RULES:

1. Look through your photo archives for the chosen blog and pull out the tenth photo you posted.

2.Tell us a little about it.

3.Tag five more players.

4.Let the fun begin!

My 10th picture was posted in my entry Gymbo & Ozzy. This was taken when Ozzy was still around 2 years old. This was his first class with Gymboree. He was still shy and very timid.

Now at almost 4, he will be attending the "big school" come June. Time does fly too fast when you're enjoying life. He is a big brother to 8-month old Jacob. He is SUPER talkative, he loves asking all sorts of questions. He is extra curious about dinosaurs and elephants. He still has issues with eating though but all in all he's all grown up. Definitely not a baby anymore (according to him!) I mean, look at that face? Pwede na bang mangligaw?

I am tagging Mitch, Vannie (Lavander Fields), Gracie, Jhona and Eds.

Wednesday Happy Thoughts

Wednesday Happy Thoughts
  1. It's Hump Day. Middle of the week. This means, 2 days closer to the weekend!
  2. The maids are home. We were yaya-less and cook-less for 2 whole days. We survived but I am glad their back. We need all the help we can get here at home.
  3. A relatively successful election. It was peaceful, the automated election was a success - but the winners for President and VP were not what I was hoping.
  4. I am happy that the electricity is back on after 3 full hours.
  5. Baby Jacob is eating his meals and drinking his formula. Finally, I get to extend my hours when I am out, I am not limited to 3-hour intervals anymore!
  6. Big brother Joshua is eating well. He sits on the dinner table and would feed himself. His appetite enriching vitamins is working.
  7. Also, Joshua is already enrolled in Ma.Montessori Intl School. Everything is ready except for his stuff & uniform. I am officially a preschoolers mom.
  8. Steady flow of tasks and sideline jobs.
That's it for this week. What are YOU thankful for?

Sunkissed

A recently saw a friend of mine who was struggling with adult acne. I said "was" because now, she is totally acne free. Actually she looks blooming. I asked her secrets on how to treat acne and most especially how to repair the scars! She said proper exfoliation and skincare is the best way. It also helps that my friend goes to her derma often. She uses trusted skin care products and she never leaves her makeup on after a night of partying.

As for me, when it comes to skin care my essentials are just toner and moisturizer with SPF. Sometimes, I would use eye creams for my dark circles. I never ever use harsh soaps for my face and as much as possible I go in for a facial every few weeks or so.

That reminds me, I need to visit my facialist for a derma peel soon. My nose is starting to peel. Did I tell you about how 'sunkissed' I am after our island hopping last weekend? Yup, summer just isn't complete without those tan lines.

No More Horsing Around

Friday, May 7, 2010

I personally don't know anyone who's into horses and into equestrian stuff...the closest I've been to horses was when we went to Baguio one summer, 15 years ago. Yes, that long. I was riding this horse which didn't smell that great and was having a bad day! He kept going off the course and I kept sliding off from the saddle. It didn't help I had no riding breeches which made the ride extra rough. After that, I didn't dare go near horses again. Suffice to say, I was pretty scared of them.

Not until now. Well, not "horses" per se; I am looking for Main and Tail Shampoo and Conditioner for my hair. Originally those stuff are for horses' hair; but many say it can give me a much fuller head of hair which I badly need. Plus it can give it more shine and body. Seriously, my hair is vanishing before my very eyes. It has been 3 months since I started having this problem. It's high time I stop horsing around and seriously address the problem and then do something about it. Yes, it is actual horse shampoo but I hear it smells really good.

I Wish I Wish

I was hoping to catch more Zzz's today since I barely slept a wink last night, but here I am reporting to work because there are a few loose items I need to finish up. Reports don't generate on their own y'know (don't you just wish they do though?). I was reading up on oxygen level and pulse oximeter for the finger when I suddenly remembered our ER visit last night. Yeah, Ozzy was rushed to the ER for stomach cramps. Every few minute or so I could see he would cringe in pain, his heart rate would accelerate and he would break in cold sweat. However, after a few tests that turned out negative for any infection we went home. I've taken a line from the song Airplane which says,"Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars? I could really use a wish right now."

I could very well use a wish right now, I wish for good health for my kids, my family and all those I hold dear.

Scary Night @ The ER

At around 10pm last night, we had to rush Ozzy to the ER. He was having stomach pains every 10 minutes since around 8pm. He was pale and he was crying. In between that 10-minute interval he was perfectly fine, he would walk and talk. Then like clockwork, there was the pain again. We rubbed oil, placed hot compress on his tummy and tried to have him pass gas to no avail. I could see he was clutching his gut (lower abdomen), he would cry out and I felt helpless. My mind was thinking about all the worse kinds of scenario. One of which was appendicitis. It didn't help at all that when the doctor asked him, he consistently answered there was pain the right area and not left.

He was not vomiting, there was no fever, he didn't have a hard time urinating, he had no loose bowel movement. He was perfectly fine the whole day, ate the foods we normally eat and he was very active. Maybe too active that something went in his appendix?

2 hours later, urine and cbc turned out negative for any infection. We went home. The doctor gave him some antacid and told us we keep an eye on him. The pain was probably caused by stomach cramps (hilab) and that it is caused by many things, maybe something he ate? At home, he slept up until 2AM but then he started to wake up every 30 minutes or so complaining about pain again. I placed more oil and just observed. When he woke up past 8AM he seemed fine.

"No more yayay Mommy, let's not go back to the Doctor ok?" he cheerfully asked. I just nodded and thanked the high heavens it was nothing serious.

Maybe he just really needed to pass gas. Or he was having stomach cramps for whatever reason. All I know is that; that's one experience I hope won't happen again.

Picture Me In This Place

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

For awhile there, the Sheriff had me for a scare, I was hoping to write a review on prototype 37c but then when I clicked on my assignment tab, my tasks were gone. It had me thinking if I missed the deadline, which I highly doubt. I may be someone who thrives under beating the deadline, but not when it comes to online stuff. I make it a point to make my assignments way before the deadline so that I would have ample time to make changes if there are any. Good thing, when I refreshed the page, the tasks showed up.

Whew.

For awhile there I thought I screwed up about the tasks. Anyway, our island hopping is a GO this Saturday. I am so excited.

We'll be going to 2 spots and then stay in an island called Nalusuan for our lunch. Picture me in this place in a few days. Awesome.

At first glance they look alike, but upon closer inspection they are actually different. Although its not apparent in this picture, Jacob has a fairer complexion that Joshua, he's also bigger. But both handsome if I say so myself. :))

Once You Pop

I have always been curious about these online casino games at casinoscandinavia, I always read about it but I never really got to personally try them. My concern is that once I start, I can't stop. That is why I never play any online games anymore. I used to get addicted to bejeweled blitz in Facebook. Right now people are raving about the online game, Plants Vs. Zombies before it was Mafia Wars, then there's Farmville then FarmTown or vice versa! Too many games, too little time. That's why I never get hooked with one, because once you pop you just can't stop.

Happiness

...for a mom is when her baby can sleep (without being carried) thru the night.

Oh yes, at 7 months and 2 weeks I could rest easy knowing I don't have to wake up in the middle of the night to put my baby back to sleep.

Happiness.

Delicious Weekend.

Sunday, May 2, 2010

While waiting for my pictures to download from my camera, I am here trying to stay awake. Truth be told, I am ready to hit the sack. It has been one long day of fun fun fun. For starters, my sister is home this weekend and we went out for a nice lunch and then had halo-halo for merienda.

Speaking of bed, yesterday when Ozzy and I were in the mall we were checking out double deck beds and single beds for the kids. Maybe not now, but in the near future wherein they would be needing their own space. I saw Adjustable Beds online once and I would want something like that for DH and I. A good quality Adjustable Bed like this one on the right is very useful in times like now when I am up, tapping away in my laptop while I am in bed. While propping pillows may do the trick for awhile, after some time the pillow gets smushed and it isn't as comfortable anymore.

Anyway, I've been rambling too much already. This could only mean one thing, I need to go to bed already. My mind is in hyper drive, I think this is because of all the good food and sweets I've ingested in the last 12 hours - from Thai cuisine to Krispy kreme's and halo2x! That was one sinfully delicious weekend. How was yours?

Saturday 9: Changes

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

1. Tell us about one thing that you'd change about yourself if you could.
If I could, physically I would like to have a fairer skin and slimmer figure. Emotionally I'd would want to be more mature. I also need to be more empathetic and kinder to others. I realized I am easily annoyed and impatient so I want to change that too. I'll be turning 27 in a few hours, now is the best time for a change.

2. Mattel decides to make a Barbie-like (or Ken-like) doll of you -- what would be the most important accessory or accessories they would absolutely have to package you with in order to portray your lifestyle?
2 kids and a big bag.

3. Hey, do you like surprises? If yes, what kinds?
....ohhhh things! definitely. I'd like to be surprised with jewelry *hint hint*.
Something shining shimmering will be splendid.

4. What was the last snail mail that you received that was significant?
...months ago something for Hubby for his VISA.

5. If you could pick out a brand new nickname for yourself, what would you choose and why?
just Vannie. short for Vanessa. Still me, not too common. Short & sweet.

6. John Edward's mistress was on Oprah this past Thursday. She stated that no third person can break up a marriage, so it had to be broken before the two started doing the nasty. Do you buy that?
Heck no. The marriage could have been salvaged. My stand in this is, as long as the husband and wife are clearly divorced or separated then you can go into the relationship; if not then don't even think about it let alone justify your actions!

7. Do you think it is okay to keep secrets from your s/o?
Nope. It's not healthy keeping secrets from each other, no matter big or small.

8. Have you ever played Truth or Dare? If yes, what's the weirdest dare that you did?
...yeah but that was a long time ago and the dares were pretty lame, nothing worth sharing.

9. What, in hindsight, the stupidest thing that you have ever done?
I would say being cocky when I was still a new driver. I had a lot cars, walls, posts etc., it took awhile but I finally got the hang if it now.

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

Even The Nights.

Uh-oh. Maybe I have overdone it? Too much video streaming and watching shows online has taken a toll on my eyes. It's been red and my head is aching so much. However, I do think the headache is solely caused by the intense heat we're experiencing now. I may not be needing any migraine treatments but I do need to double up on the liquids. Even the nights are super hot, no wonder my kids can't sleep without the air conditioner on full blast. How can we conserve energy at this rate?

Owning It.

Ahh simple joys.

Both of my boys are asleep and its not even 8PM. No, no - it's not what you're thinking, I didn't slip any sleeping pills into their milk. They were just both knackered, not to mention it was quite a hot day (30+ degrees Celsius); after their bath and with the aircon on they both fell into deep slumber. For someone like me who never gets any "me" time, this is one of those rare moments where I finally do what I like to do. I get to tinker with my camera, upload some pictures in FB and then watch some shows online. Plus, I get to blog hop and update my blogs.

I usually turn in early on Sundays to get ready for another work day the next day - but guess what? Tomorrow is my 27th birthday and its a national holiday. Although they are not related (Holiday because its Labor Day) I am happy my day is a free day. I can enjoy it with my family. Who knows? Maybe we'll hit the beach.

So for now, I am enjoying the remaining hours before I turn into the "late twenties" stage. I am going to own it. Yes, I am about to hit 30,so what? Looking back at my life and what I have accomplished so far, all I can say is not bad...not bad at all - now here's to making it better!
