Happiness

Thursday, December 30, 2010

I am not a fan of jeans - I only a few pairs which can be counted by one hand. I am a girly-girl who prefers skirts, dresses and shorts. However, my brother loves them. I guess being a boy would leave you with no choice, right? I was looking over men's rocawear jeans but decided against giving one because I wasn't sure of the size. Instead we gave him a basketball jersey. I hope he would love it. ;)

Speaking of gifts, I received a trunk-ful of clothes + the trunk from my Mommy Manita the other night during out screwed screw party. Can you see the happiness in my face?

Secret

We've got a secret ;) LOL.

I love this "candid" picture. My friends would always comment that Hubby and I look like highschool bg/gf instead of husband and wife.

I'd take that as a compliment. Even though I have age spots already - we still look like a young couple.

Give A Gift

Monday, December 20, 2010

Men are the hardest to give a gift to simply because there are a few choices to give. Unlike girls, men have minimum needs and wants.

Wallet.
Hankerchief.
Boxers.
Tie.
Belt.
Watch.

What else? Those are usually the one's we think about when we say "men's gift" however, I found something new and interesting to give this Christmas season, Acid cigars. But of course, this would only be good to those men who enjoy a good cigar.

Sunday Stealing: The Ninja Meme, Part Two

Have a great holiday!
We will be off on the 26th.
We will return to our thieving ways
on January 2, 2011.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
from Bud & Judd

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing. Sunday Stealing originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of memes from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent memes. You may have heard of the expression, “honor amongst thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we also have our rules. First, we always credit the blog that we stole it from and we will “fess up” to the blog owner where we stole the meme. We also provide a link to the victim's post. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") We do sometimes edit the original meme, usually to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, sometimes to select that meme's best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from either this new meme or recently asked questions from a prior featured meme. Let's go!

Today we ripped this meme off a blogger named CV Rick from the blog named Ninja Writer. It's 50 questions so we will do it in two parts. He stated that he grabbed it from Wry Catcher. But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft's thieves might take some time. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

Cheers to all of us thieves!

Wedding Jitters

Wednesday, December 15, 2010

This weekend is full of celebrations. I have a pre-wedding dinner to attend on Thursday, a wedding on Friday and another one on Saturday!

It's not my wedding but I have the jitters.

My dresses are ready but I am not. Unfortunately for me, ever since I learned about my hyperacidity I always keep food on my bag in case I get hungry - so I developed a bad habit of unnecessary snacking which led to me gaining 5 pounds. Plus, I have this nasty burn mark right on my neck (from mis-use of the curling iron huhuhu)!!! Anyway, regarding the pounds I've packed, good thing I've got spanx and some little knowledge on how to reduce body fat percentage quickly and safely.

Now, my problem is - how can I hide a big burn mark on my neck in a tube dress?

Friday Fill-Ins #203

Tuesday, December 14, 2010

I missed FF last Friday, so I am making for it now ;)

FFI

This week, I'm going to give you a choice of fill-ins OR a different kind of fill-in (or both). A friend emailed me a list where you have to identify Christmas songs by the initials of the first words of the first line of each song. Each Friday until Christmas Eve I'll post 9 more of these songs and if you'd like to play along, great!

So...here we go!

1. I wish that I can catch up sleep so that I won't be so crabby anymore.

2. Bed...that's what I'm thinking.

3. Please bring your passport with you at all times, that's what is advised when traveling abroad.

4. Conquering my fear is so amazing.

5. One of my fondest hopes is have an all-expense paid trip to Europe.

6. I really appreciate all your help and I just wanted to say thank you.

On Nurses and Scrubs.

A lot of my high school friends are nurses. Many young women from the Philippines opt to take nursing jobs, not because they prefer it, but because their parents prefer it for them. The chances of going abroad to earn much more is higher when you are in the nursing profession. When you go around the city chances are you'll bump into 1 or 2 ladies in nursing uniforms.

When I was in high school, I initially wanted to be a nurse because all my friends were going to take up nursing. As the years progressed and as I have developed my own passions, I went with engineering. If I had pursued nursing, I would have been living in New York right now. I am fine though - different strokes for different folks they say.

Speaking of nurses, a friend asked me to look for stylish nursing scrub uniform while I was in the states, unfortunately, I really didn't have time to go around to look for one. Good thing I found a reliable site online which sells medical scrubs and uniform. I recommended it to her, hopefully she gets what she wants. This friend of mine is working here to get at least 2 years experience, in a few years, she'll be leaving again to the US or wherever to pursue here dream of a brighter future. Ack. I hate saying goodbye.

Is it really that bad to be a nurse in the Philippines?

Manic.

Manic Monday is shutting down. What a shame, I love answering the questions in it. Anyway, Since I've gotten back from my trip - it has been one activity to the next. I have not yet had the proper rest and I am dreading our trip next week. Hopefully, the kids will behave and won't give me problems in the boat (wishful thinking!).

Right now, all I really want to do it sleep but obviously, when you are gone for a week, work will pile up. Paperwork, filing and pending tasks need to be finished before the end of the week or else it won't get done in time for the Holidays. I don't need any meme to tell me, it's a Manic Monday (heck, its a Manic Week for me).

It's good to be back. There's no place like home. However, the thing with being able to visit a first world country is that you see the vast difference from theirs to our country.

The roads were well made, signs were in order, the people were courteous. In a big city like Manila, seeing people sleeping on the streets and kids playing on the sidewalk is a normal occurence. You will never see that in the US, wait, I take that back - I did see one "bag-man" there. While we do have tall stuctures, nice houses and steel buildings here, you also see along side those shanties which really smear the otherwise quaint feel of our City.

Government officials don't make a move on relocating these people because they are scared to lose votes. What a shame.

Still - there's no place like home!

Home bound

In Manila!!

Wow, that was one lone flight. I wasn't able to sleep as much because some guy kept on talking loudly. I was *this* close to telling him off but I was too lazy to stand. So there.

Finally, one last 1-hr plane ride and I am home. I miss my babies badly. There was this little boy beside me on the plane who was crying loudly - instead of wishing I was far far away from the crying I actually relished the sound of a kid around. After all this trip was the longest time I am away from the kids since I have become a mom. Some mother's have been away for years - I don't know how they do it. I seriously, can't.

All I want right now is to crawl into bed with them and shower them with butterfly kisses.

A Massage is in order.

Thursday, December 9, 2010

This is an exciting time for us. Right now, Hubby is on a plane to the Philippines. Me, on the other hand is racing back to the Philippines too - I am just waiting for my flight right now.

While it is truly a one big happy reunion, I am sure I will be dead tired when I get back. The whole time I was here I only got to sleep for 4 hours. The whole day is spent on my feet, either in classes, on the expo floor or walking back to the hotel. In the Philippines, you can never see me walk 1 blocks. But here, I did. I walked back to the hotel for 10 blocks plus a walk across a bridge to go back to the hotel. I could have riden a bus but it seemed like a good day for a walk. It was chilly but bearable. I am glad I did though, it was fun, an adventure wherein I saw different shops and restaurants.

The sad thing is, my bones are aching right now. While in my hotel's tub, and I was dreaming that I was on whirlpools instead. Ahhh, that would be the perfect way to relax and warm my body. Since I don't have that - I'll just have to catch some sleep here and dream of it!

Isssnooooww.

I am in the airport waiting for my 2nd flight, a 19-hr flight to Manila. Just outside I am seeing snow. It just snowed and the roads outside the airport is white!

I don't want to sound like a weirdo here - but really it's exciting.

While Waiting.

I'll blog. Whew. What a great trip.

It was an adventure.

It was a great experience.

I learned tons of things that can help me more with my job and I am excited to learn some more. I met a lot of people from all over which was really something different for me who works at home. Now, it's time to go back to reality. Back to family which I m really excited about. Back to the grind of things, back to being a working mom (which reminds me, I need those life insurance quotes ASAP).

Oppps. Boarding the plane now! GTG

Just In Time.

Friday, December 3, 2010

Ahhh. Christmas is in the air. It's not because our tree is up, not even because our house is littered with christmas stockings and christmas wreaths.

The reason is...

...my personal bank account is brimming with gladness. We just received our Christmas bonus and just in time for my trip. I will have money to shop ;)) A friend of mine from Dallas says she will try to meet up with me on Sunday. I hope our plan to go to an outlet store will push thru!

Can I Just Sleep?

In a few hours I'd be off.

1 week away from the kids seem like an eternity. I've never ever been away from them this long before. I don't know who will have separation anxiety, me or them.

I cannot even begin to think about my trip yet because there are a few tasks I need to finish. PO's need to be processed, orders placed, reports to be submitted, stuff to download and information to gather.

Ack.

I wanna crawl up in bed and sleep my worries away. The Sleeping Beauty had it easy. All she had to do was sleep and wait for the Prince to kiss her. Girls now - can't just wait for the prince, we do things on our own.
