Swiper No Swiping

Friday, January 21, 2011

Budget is tight these days, after the December rush...the dust have settled and I am now paying for the endless "swiping". Ack. I know I can always turn to payday loans if push comes to shove but I'd really rather not. I've gone through life without getting a loan just yet. Well, maybe this year we'll make an exception. Our room's flooring and comfort room will be having a renovation so that entails a huge cash out on our part. I just hope the contractor will get back to us on the estimate so we can allot a budget for it soon. With the way things are going, I am forced to stop drooling on those fab bags just yet. There are more important things to buy.

Sleeping Beauty

Aside from not drinking enough water, one of the reasons why I developed kidney crystals is because I hold my pee. Some people wake up several times during the night to pee. Not me. I wake up in the morning with a throbbing bladder. This has been going on for awhile and it has caught up with me. I especially hold my pee overnight since I can't seem to wake up when I fall asleep at night. I need my beauty rest after all. I guess it's cause I am sleep deprived most of the time that when I get the chance for shut-eye I really sleep. I am sleep-hungry. I am still thankful though because I don't need any insomnia natural treatment; because at the end of the day - I want to sleep. The solution is not to drink lots of fluids before sleeping so that I don't need to pee overnight.

What NOT to eat & drink.

I am obsessing about the crystals found in my kidney, I know of 2 people already who've had this and passed the stones with their urine.

So it is curable! Good.

But this entails drinking excessive amounts of liquid + drinking my meds 3x a day for 3 months. Ewwww. I guess I can look at this as a good thing, water and the med can be my natural appetite suppressant. This way, I will lose the weight I've gained during the holidays without a doubt! Plus, since I am not allowed to drink soda anymore - I should be getting thinner sooner than later.

A little research told me that these are the Foods to avoid, because they increment your risk for kidney stones:

1. Salt. The calcium in salt caused kidney stone if consuming together with high oxalate foods.
2. Meat protein consumption increases urinary uric acid, which can increment kidney stone risk.
3. Grapefruit juice. Grape juice increment your body’s absorption of oxalate from other foods caused formation of kidney stones.

But wait...there's more, these are the Foods that help to prevent kidney stones:

1. WATER WATER WATER. Drink at least 8 ounce of water a day to avoid urine getting too concentrate and leading to crystals. Too many crystals can extend to stone formation.
2. Lemonade. This refreshing drink contains a lot of citric acid, it stops calcium base stone from forming, one usual cause of kidney stone is deficiency of citrate in the urine.
3. Alcohol and caffeine waters down your urine and makes you attend the bathroom more frequently. That affords kidney stone little chance to develop.
4. Try supplements. You can also attempt probiotic supplements, such as acidophilus or lactobacillus. These little capsules contain millions of good bacteria that can aid restore balance of your gut and bringing down the risk of formation of kidney stone.

From M to A

My Father drives an A/T while I, a stick shift. One time, he let me use his car. It was a breeze. You never ever have to deal with a half clutch again! Traffic won't be THAT bad when you eliminate the hassle of going to neutral then to 1st gear again and again and again.

That was fun. I want to try it again. This time, I want to try driving outside our subdivision for a change.

DIY

Monday, January 17, 2011

I am a sucker for beads, accessories, anything that glitters and has lace. In that way, I am such a girly girl.

Even though my accessory box is already brimming with stuff - I still feel the need to add to my collection. The thing is - it would cost me a fortune. I've recently came across these cute chamilia beads and it made me think. Why not buy beads and stones and make my own accessories?

One thing I want to make, bracelets! DIY, can I do it?

Business-Minded

Friday, January 14, 2011

A lot of people are contented working for someone else. While this may be okay to some, others crave for something bigger and go into their own business.

My father is like this. He is a business-minded person who has long term plans for our company. While he never had formal business training, he has had 30 years of experience in the field of marketing to know the ins and outs of starting, building and growing your own business.

Someday, I hope to be like him. Maybe by taking an online business degree would jump start this dream maybe not. Other plunge into it and learn along the way. Some would stumble, fall into bankruptcy but then again others can succeed as well.

I just hope when I do decide to have my own business, I get my fathers attitude towards it. Slow and steady. Nothing is easy in this world. Maybe taking an online business degree is a good idea after all. These days, because of competition, academic credentials and high competence are the operative phrases.

Gadgets Galore

I can honestly say - I can never live without internet & gadgets.

Look at this picture. Immediately after dinner, everyone was busy with whatever is it their doing. My son's playing with the iPhone, my baby is watching a video thru my Samsung smartphone, I was checking my emails through my iTouch and my sister is with her own iPhone.

Unconventional to some, but a reality to more and more families these days. We are so concerned with keeping up to date with the current news and emails that we can't go a day without updating our Facebook status.

As for me, I am trying to cut back on my online time. Blogging is an outlet I love that might take a backseat this 2011. I won't stop completely though - I still need to save up for a new smartphone. The new samsung gravity looks promising. My Omnia is getting slobbered so many times that it keeps on getting errors. Time for an upgrade.

Welcome 2011

Monday, January 3, 2011

First working day of 2011 and I was not late for work. I hope that's a very good sign for what 2011 will bring.

On the flip side, work has piled up on my desk and that is a bad sign. This means I have to work work work and spend less time on facebook. Good thing I don't do the accounting finance jobs anymore because I can't take the work load anymore. There's only so much I can do. I have been been spreading myself too thin already and I've been constantly sick since December. Plus, we have only 1 nanny here at home and she does everything from cleaning to cooking. She also does the laundry + taking care of the baby if I have to go somewhere. It is manageable if I don't have work. Now that it's 8-5 once again, it's a challenge. Hubby is there to help which is great. I hope the other help will come home soon.

This is my first blog entry for 2011 and already my new years resolution is to blog a little less this year. Once I do blog, I resolve to write more about topics which are relevant. Now, that's a challenge ;)
