Remote Access

Thursday, April 28, 2011

Our neighborhood is relatively secure. We have a security guard whose on duty for 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. However, the recent news about burglars freaked me out a bit especially since I have kids. The most basic thing that we should have here at home is a security system. While we may not be the richest family in our neighborhood, we do have a lot of electronic gadgets lying around that costs a fortune. I was reading about remote security for the home and it got me really interested. With this technology you can have the power to arm and disarm your home's security system from anywhere in the world.

I was watching Modern Family a few days ago and when the whole family went to Hawaii for a vacation, they can still check on their house thru their security system. How convenient is that? I love it. Speaking of Modern Family, if you haven't started watching it yet then you better. It is a really funny series that tackles issues that are happening right now in our society like 2nd families and gay relationships. I love it.

Nanny Stories

Apart from the dust and noise - what I dislike about having workers here at home is the fact that they tend to flirt with the house help! I don't care if they find romance, it's their right. I start to care when they start flirting and talking incessantly while working. Plus, when the worker is married with children - texting or even unnecessary talking should be nipped in the bud.

I should have followed my instinct when I saw one of the workers talking too closely with my baby's nanny.

The workers wife came and created a mini-scandal outside the house. Oh gosh. The drama. So unnecessary. Now, their both on my watch list. This is the 2nd time that our Nanny became entangled in a 'love triangle' of some sorts. If it was that easy to find a household help, then I wouldn't think twice about replacing her. Since it is not, then I am stuck with her and all I could do is talk to her about what's proper decorum and hope for the best. She's a nice girl really and my kids love her, but she has a bit of temper and she can be a little flirt.

3 Stars Is A Must

At first there was Plants Vs. Zombies.

Then came Angry Birds.

Now - Angry Birds RIO.

I love love AB RIO. I especially love hitting those Monkeys who try to hold on with all their might. I love the level where we should kill that white bird. So addicting. I've actually lost sleep because of this game. I had to look out for home remedies on how to get rid of dark circles under my eyes. The obsessive part in me tells me not to stop until I get 3 stars in each level. Right now, I only have 1 level left that does not have 3 stars, that's Smugglers' Den 1-13.

I will conquer you in an hour when I get off work. Watch out!!! =P

Some Insecurities

Growing up, I was very insecure about everything. The color of my skin, my height and at some point even my weight. Now that I am older, I've learned how to deal with the insecurities plus I'd like to think that I have somewhat "bloomed" with the help of course of some whitening soaps, flattering outfit and great personality. The one thing that I have been blessed with is great skin on my face. Generally, I am acne free, I have a clean even-toned face with small pores. That's why I feel bad for some of my friends who have been dealing with acne all their life, not to mention back acne is also a problem! I've seen some promising treatment for it though in http://www.backacnetreatments.org. I don't even want to imagine my life dealing with that, because my insecurities will intensify without a doubt.

A friend asked once, if there was a time in my life I'd like to go back to, when is it? My answer would be when I turned 25. During that time, I am confident with myself. I would never want to go back to high school, as much fun as it was, HS was brutal. Too much drama actually. Thinking about it makes me cringe.

Never Say Never

I've always talked about taking a diet pill or 2 to slim down, however, at the back of my mind I never really sold it to myself because I know the dangers of it.

Now that a good friend of mine is taking one and swears by it - I am quickly changing my stand regarding this. I want to lose weight before Hubby comes home this July. Plus, it's summer and that means bikini season! Who wants unwanted flab when you can flaunt sexier abs in a matter of weeks, right?

Never say never, the Bieb's once said. And that is exactly the case for me and diet pills. Hope to shed off some weight before we hit the beach this May.

The Plan.

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

My sister-in-law has arrived in Norway already. She and my Hubby's twin are happily reunited after about 3 years of a long distance relationship. To say that I am jealous is an understatement.

The problem with us is that we have 2 kids to support. While Hubby is earning well there, the kids and I cannot just pack up our bags and leave for Norway as we wish. My sister-in-law and her Hubby are newly weds and don't have any kids so they have no problem at all! Processing of her papers took such a short time that she hurriedly bought winter clothes and a Gregory Baltoro 65 backpack. Norway's cost of living is extremely high and the only way we can survive there with the 2 kids is if I work as well. This is fine except I am having a hard time looking for a job especially since I don't speak their language. The plan? Take a language course. Meanwhile I will continue to look for a job online so I can stay at home and earn.

I will miss Cebu for sure. My family and friends are here but the important thing right now is for us to be together. I really miss Hubby.

Act of Contrition

Yesterday, I started my day right. I went to confession. The priest had said something profound. I was struck by it and felt good to have confessed.

Today - there were a lot if little irritants. I was biting my tongue all the time because if I don't I may say something I will regret later on.

Time To Let Go.

Friday, April 15, 2011

Our car, which my son Joshua fondly calls, Carrie is due for a change! Last month, its radiator and fan broke down. Last week, I had to have the wiring from the alternator fixed. The car's battery didn't charge that's why I wasn't able to start it. That was fixed right away because the mechanic was located near our subdivision. However, just the other night, it would not start again!! So I had to take a taxi which I don't enjoy. The following day, I was ready to call the mechanic again but first I tried - just for kicks - to start the car and it did! I don't know what happened the night before, but for now I make sure to warm up the car daily. Since it's summer and I don't need to go bring Joshua to school everyday, the car rarely gets used so maybe that was the problem.

I was thinking, maybe it's time to let go of the car. After it is 16 years old. Although in Carrie's defense, it still runs beautifully, it is clean, it has minimal bumps and scratches plus it has really served us well. However, all great things must come to an end - and maybe now is the time to trade it up with a much newer model. I've been reading the car insurance blog and I have learned that older car would cost much more in the maintenance department. So that's why our rich neighbor changes cars every 3 years! So, what car to get?

Friday Fill-Ins 2011

Friday Fill-Ins

And...here we go!

1. For me, it was more than just friendship, but he didn't feel the same.

2. There's a sale at my local supermarket.

3. Behind the sound of the wind in the trees, I heard the little cry.

4. To travel and shop all over the world is something I always wanted to do.

5. When it was over, I felt relieved.

6. I traveled to the US on my own but I never felt alone. (because I was constantly online!)

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to attending a birthday party of my son's classmate, tomorrow my plans include going to the waxing salon with my bff and Sunday, I want to hear mass and buy groceries!

Getting In Shape For Summer.

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

Being a working Mom of 2 young boys, as you can see in my blog's title, is a constant juggling act. At times I am ready to break and just shout at the top of my lungs, then there are times where I am overwhelmed with joy for all the blessings. Well, anyway, I love my family to pieces but there's still me that I want to take care of. I've been wanting to work-out or exercise for some time now. That thing that's stopping me is the fact that I don't want to leave the kids regularly. However, my friends and I have talked about getting our "thursday is badminton night" again. I love Badminton. It's a whole body workout that can make me sweat . Plus, we don't have to get sunburned because badminton is an indoor sport. Hopefully we can get this going again. The last time we did this was about 2 or 3 years ago. Maybe, just maybe I can have that beach bod ready for Hubby and I's Boracay trip this July. Speaking of beach boy, I wonder what are the testosterone supplements that work? My brother has been working out but hasen't seen the resuts he expected after 6 months. Any suggestions, he asked me. So I just pointed him to http://testosteronesupplementsthatwork.com. Hope I helped him in some way.

Saturday 9: Sweet Soul Music

Monday, April 11, 2011

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Sweet Soul Music

1. Do you listen to music at work, and if so, do you use a mp3 player, play it through your office computer, or do you listen to it collectively via a separate radio you keep nearby?
I listen to music from the internet. Usually, I just go to a stations website and stream from there. I want to listen to a variety of music plus the jocks are funny.

2. Tell us something about people that you absolutely hate.
I HATE people who are cheaters and who don't mind stepping on others just to get ahead.

3. What is something someone has done that you'd like the world to know about?

4. Where is your favorite place to sit when at home?
Bed in my sister's room because it is near the TV.

5. How did you come up with the title of your blog?
Random. I feel like my life is a continuous juggling act between balancing, work, family and my personal life. Something all mothers out there would agree on.

6. Tell us about the one who got away.
Well, it's his loss.

7. Have you ever had a big birthday party?
Nope. I prefer my parties to be intimate. Quiet. I want to spend it with people who actually matter to me.

8. What was the biggest bash you've ever attended?
My own wedding ;))

9. With my kids and an always changing life, I find myself sometimes unable to focus! Do you have that problem, too?
I know exactly how you feel!! See #5

Expanding.

Thursday, April 7, 2011

Our office is in topsy-turvy right now. Everything is a mess because we've recently bought a new computer unit to make way for another addition to our little work force. Soon enough my sister will join the family business. She will resign from being at the top of a BPO company to help us out. My father is not getting any younger and the business is steadily expanding, so with my sister on board, all three of us siblings are able to help out my Dad. Plus, old files getting more and more without any place to put new one's. I talked to my Boss about buying new computer cabinets and filing cabinets. I really have a hard time working properly with a disorganized place. I am sure my sister would too. Time for major reorganization. Let's Go.

Rashes

My skin is breaking out with little red spots. My boys have it too. I personally think it is because of some plant or insect allergy. I noticed them after we went on a walk around the neighborhood. They look like a zillion mini mosquito bites. My baby boy whose 1 year old is the poor one. He has it in his face too. I really want to get all the rashes out his body and if I could transfer it to me, I would.

Ack.

Summer is fun and all but it also means allergy season. Too bad we are a family with skin problems. What a bitter-sweet summer this is.
