Family Time

Busy doesn't even sum up what I'm feeling.

Overwhelmed is the word I am looking for I think. I can't complain though because I am having the time of my life. Hubby is home so of course we are making the most of it.

Work is getting in the way - ack. Just joking Dad =)

Hubby and I went out on a date last week and we were able to catch the movie Transformers 3. It was a fun movie (but totally bogus) - nevertheless I was thoroughly entertained. It's cool to think that sometime in the near distant future we can have technology that can transform and morph of whatever. Take for example this cool Asus Tablet Canada which is a tablet and in the next instant can transform into a laptop by connecting it into a qwerty keypad. It is flexible, lightweight and unique!

Hmmm...thinking of getting it. Thinking of getting a lot of things lately. Tsk.

Last week, we also celebrated my son's 5th birthday.

We had a photo session with Picture Co.

Also for the weekend, we stayed in Imperial Palance Waterpark Resort in Mactan. Just an hour drive from our house. It was so much fun! Tiring, but fun. The kids loved playing in the slides. The smile on their faces were good enough for the price we paid. My eldest said he doesn't want to go home anymore!

Uhmmm. O-kay. That's a dream that can't come true baby.=) But we will love you forever.

Angry Bird Cake

Another smashing cake from LMG Pastry for my son's 5th birthday!

My son (and his classmates) loved it so much. Plus, it didn't just look good, it tasted great as well. Red velvet with vanilla filling. Yum-oh! =)

Therapy To Lose It.

Wednesday, July 13, 2011

While reading the newspaper earlier, I came across a new kind of diet. This kind of diet is popular within executives which does not require exercise but does require a hefty sum. It somehow reads your blood work and treat you from there. Just like how the Austin Wellness Clinic do it with their treatments like bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, clinical nutrition, metabolic, physiological, and genetic testing. For a while there I considered it, but then again, I am not really overweight (yet). I have a bit of flabs here and there but it's still very manageable. Meaning, I can start eating well and exercising a bit to shave it off. But then again, it it great to know that there are facilities out there that can help overweight people to lose the weight without the doing anything too drastic to their body like gastric bypass or liposuction.

High Five

My eldest is turning 5 tomorrow.

I know it sounds so cliche, but it seems time flew by just like that with the kids. Five. He has hit the milestones already.

  • He's in school.
  • He potty trained without accidents whatsoever.
  • He has stopped drinking milk from the bottle.
  • He can brush his teeth on his own.
  • He can eat on his own (but with so much prodding)
  • He can write his name and read a bit.
He has clear preferences, still preferring dinosaurs over cars easily. He enjoys playing games like Angry Birds and Carnivores. He is the best big brother to Jacob, offering to take care of him when I am not around. He never fights back when his little brother shouts and demands for toys or food. I am so proud of how you turned out to be little Joshua.

Be good. We love you so much.

The Beginning: K & P

Tuesday, July 12, 2011

I have only actively participated in planning and execution of a proposal once. That was last month when our friend asked us to help him propose to one of our good friends. They have been a couple for 2 years but have known each other since highschool.

We made a video montage for her. It showed pictures of their time together plus as an added bonus, some video clips of us showing our support and giving out some love quotes.

The girl didn't suspect anything. We lured her into thinking it was a barkada dinner. Only us.
Here we all are the conspirators with the unknowing bride (in white).

As the middle of dinner, we showed her the video saying it was about their old school long story short, she was in tears when the groom to be showed up with one of the most shiny diamond engagement rings that I've ever seen.

I didn't expect to cry too. When the guy popped the question, we were all holding our breathes. After she said yes, the other patrons of the resto clapped with us. It was a beautiful moment. A beautiful couple. A beautiful story and a beautiful ring. I feel so lucky to be part of that night. Congrats to you both, cheers.

Quiet Night

Date night tonight. Yey!

Hub and I are planning to watch Transformers 3. It has been ages since we last went out on a date and I can't help but feel giddy. Well, granted this is just a semi date; meaning half of the time we'll be doing some errands for our son's birthday and some last minute grocery shopping - still it feels like a date because we'd be out sans the kiddies. It's weird how when you become a parent, you feel suffocated and long for a quiet night without strollers and bulky bags but then when you're out already, you feel anxious about the kids' well-being, so of course, you rush home, ruining the night all the same. I vow not to be like that this time.

Hub and I haven't seen each other for months so we definitely deserve some quiet time even if it's just for a few hours.

Multi-tasking.

...being a mom is a juggling act.

Right now, I am juggling between being an employee, a mother of 2, a wife and a grand daughter. Yesterday, we made an effort to visit my maternal grandmother because she recently had a stroke and since that the family has made an effort to come visit as much as we can. We live 15 minutes away but we see each other once every 3 months or so. Can you believe that? That's what happens if everyone is busy with their own lives.

So anyway, it was still a good thing because we got to play mahjong with her! It was so much fun but I kept on losing so Hubby and I (with Jacob) went to take a stroll in the neighborhood. We saw quite a few houses for sale and one which piqued our interest. Although I am sure I have burned a few calories walking uphill (with a baby in tow) it's worth it. I won't be needing those fat burners anytime soon but I would need some pain relievers though, my calves hurt!!! Obviously, I need some exercise. Talk about multi tasking - it was like hitting 3 birds with one stone. We got to visit granny, I got some much needed exercise and Hubby and I saw a house we liked. If the price is right and if the owner is willing to negotiate then .... we may be buying ourselves a house =)
