Parties

September is a month full of celebrations in our family.

There are about 10 birthday celebrants - that 10 yummy birthday cakes and ice cream. I will skip dieting this month and resume on October. I've already lost more than 10 pounds and it's a shame if I gain it all back because of all the party invitations. Aside from the grown up dinners, I also had the pleasure of attending a few children's parties one of which was for my very own talented 2 year old.

I envy the kids sometimes...back in the day, I regarded my birthday with such excitement and awe. Now, I dread it. I dream turning older. Although I am proud of what I have accomplished so far and having 2 beautiful kids at 28 - I am proud. However, there are days I wish I was 7 again and receiving loot bags and opening gifts are enough to make me happy for the rest of the year.

Sickie

Been sick for over a week now.

I have cough with colds and slight fever. Does this mean I need to drink antibiotics now? Better have this thing checked by the doctor.

I hate feeling under the weather. =(

Swimming With Dolphins.

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

When Hub and I went to Boracay for the first time last July, we tried helmet diving. It was just 15 feet deep but I felt the pressure in my ear tremendously. However, it was so much fun being down there with the fishes and my thoughts.

I wonder if we can try scuba diving next?

We can even wear these cool rec specs sports goggles I've recently heard about. It actually has a cam that can record 5MB worth of images while you are down there.

When I was little, after watching The Little Mermaid a dozen times, I often dream about being a mermaid, swimming with the dolphins and befriending flounders. Of course this isn't happening anytime soon so trying out snorkeling, helmet diving and scuba diving is the next best thing.

I hate having cough =(

Not only does food seem to be tasteless, it's gets to be embarrassing when you cough uncontrollably in public places!

Plus, cough medicine makes my heart beat fast and I shake uncontrollably.

Getting sick isn't that bad really - the kids are great - they don't give me problems really but I don't have a nanny today until Thursday so that I have to stay strong and make sure NOT to infect the kids.

Well, wish me luck then.

Techie Granny

Thursday, September 8, 2011

It baffles the mind that my 5 year old son and my soon to be 79 year old grandmama find the iPad equally amusing.

My maternal grandmother is 3 days shy of her 79th birthday (which falls on 9/11) and she recently discovered the joys of technology. She had asked us to download games and apps for me. She especially enjoys word games like TextTwist and BookWorm. Once, she called my sister in a state because one of her favorite games was deleted and she doesn't know how to put it back. It is funny because for someone who is so set in her ways, so old-school when it comes to her thoughts and traditions she has opened up to new things. I am happy for this since my grandma is not that outgoing and only makes it her lifelong duty to dote on my grandpa. At least, with a little game-therapy she can have a little fun without breaking the bank or worse - hurting herself (some oldies insist on going ballroom dancing and gets hurt - physically and emotionally in the process). Anyway; she is far from shopping for incontinence products just yet and I am quite certain in due time she may have a facebook account soon. Amazing how technology can bind us together. Look at any social media and you will know that there's no one whose unreachable or un-googleable nowadays.

Another Long Weekend

I am looking at the clock willing the hands to move faster. In about 15 minutes, we'd be off and it will be a 3-day weekend once again. This, however, is not a nationwide thing. The Province of Cebu will be celebrating the 133rd Birth Anniversary of the former President Sergio Osmena, Sr. Any big plans for the long weekend guys?

Playtime

Joshua with his classmate and best friend, Nino for his first ever play date.

They have been classmates since Nursery and they have forged a bond because of their blind devotion to dinosaurs. Naturally, once Nino arrived here earlier, they have been playing with the dinosaurs and talking nonstop. I am glad for the change of activities around here because usually, when there's no classes for long stretches (they have no classes this week because of Intramurals) Joshua watches TV or plays in the laptop most of the time. I know this is bad practice but then - when Mommy's not always around (work blah!) we substitute these things to entertain the kids the whole day.

Speaking of friends, I almost forgot - since it is already BER months I've been racking my brain thinking of what to give for my friends during the holiday! We have already made it a standard practice to give each other gifts on top of the kris kringle. My ever fashionable friend Ebbe already hinted he's giving us shoes!!! So anyway, any gift ideas for friends that you might suggest? I am open for anything. Last year, I gave away intimates. They loved it. The boys especially loved their colorful boxers. This year, I might settle for goodies instead. They all have what they need and want - so better not give something they can eat!

Talented 2.

Wednesday, September 7, 2011

My little boy is turning 2 next week! I am no longer the weepy emotional new mommy this time around. I'd like to believe that since this is my 2nd baby, I am a better mom. However, no 2 individual is the same and because of that - raising Jacob is as tough (tougher, I think) as raising his elder brother. This is because Jacob is such a strong character. He knows what he wants and has no problem showing us just that. He points at what he likes to i.e. play with, eat, go to or do. He throws massive tantrums when we lowly servants don't do the masters bidding (oh boy...) and he even gets to make his big brother cry. He has been a joy to be around - with his easy smile and playful personality. Just don't make the mistake of forgetting to feed him every so often - and you'll get along pretty well. He currently loves Dora and Barney. While he cannot talk yet, he can say things like Mama, Ahia, Tiyah (Aunty), La (lola), Bo (Ball), Ma (map), Ya (yaya) and Di (milk). We don't have any problem understanding him since he would let you know, with a shake of the head or a big grin, if he likes or dislikes something. He knows sign language even! The result of hours watching Brainy Babies. He can do sign for book, baby, swing, cup, computer, flower, tree and so much more!

We taught him how to blow the candle especially for his 2nd birthday. I hope the little boy won't disappoint.
Love you to bits my smelly curly top.
