Home Movies

My dad is a gadget/techie geek and since the beginning of my life - I remember us having the a PC (when the screen was still blue), Nintendo, gaming consuls, beeper, huge cellphones and all other stuff. Right now, the house is littered with his stuff; at times I feel it it overwhelming and causes clutter, at times I am thankful for his little quirk.

I say this because there was once a time where we had to watch a movie with my friends; the movie was in my laptop but we wanted to watch it in the den where the big TV was - good thing, dad came to the rescue with his pc to tv cables. We were able to make our own very own theater.

It was such a fun night - a perfect little celebration for our friend, D who was turning 28.

FFI

And...here we go!

1. Old me would never stay home on a Friday night; new me would prefer to stay home and cuddle with my boys.

2. It scared me at one point but now; I feel empowered taking responsibility.

3. So...in a way you can say that I've matured.

4. Right? right?

5. The big difference between my 2 boys is that one is bookish and the other one is more inclined towards the arts.

6. Taking care of my family makes me happy.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to cuddling with my boys of course, tomorrow my plans include go to Gymboree with Jacob, buy groceries and have the car waxed and Sunday, I want to hear mass and rest!

Medical Assistance

Being a parent makes you hyper paranoid at times. I remember there was this one night where my eldest complained of stomach pains. At first I thought nothing of it, but when he started crying over it, I was in full paranoia mode.

What if he had food poisoning?
What if it's his appendix?
and all the other what if's out there.

At last we decided to bring him to the ER where he was under observation until midnight. The doctor suspected it was only gas - and he was correct. A few hours after he took a pill, he passed gas and fell asleep. Phew. Don't you just wish every illness was that simple?

But wouldn't it be more horrific if there's a medical emergency when you're traveling? That's why I suggest, for those traveling, alone or with the family, a good and reliable air ambulance service or any medical emergency assistance service is a good bet to get. We can never be too sure when it comes to our well-being.

My Boys At 2.

I used to have regular updates on Joshua, my first born. Naturally, when his little brother came along - I didn't have much time to do that anymore.

Bad. I know.

So anyway, I wrote this entry when Joshua was about the same age (26 months) as Jacob is now so I can more or less compare their milestones.

  1. Unlike his big brother, he prefers to be carried when we are in the mall. Carried or put on his stroller. There are times he would squirm and run off like a normal toddler but then he tires out easily and quickly comes back and asks to be carried.
  2. Eating out isn't such a hassle with him since he actually #1 sits down and #2 eat his food when in resto's - unlike his big brother who never seems to enjoy food, even until now!
  3. Joshua loved wearing big people's shoes before, Jacob - not really. He knows which shoes are his, which one's are his ahia's and he doesn't wear them if it's not his.
  4. He does not bite his nails like his Ahia but he loves to play with my bellybutton though.
  5. Like Joshua, he adores Barney. He also loves Dora, The Backyardigans, Kai Lan and Team Umizoomi. At this age both my boys were techie and gadget inept. Jacob especially loves the ipad. While Joshua can count from 1-10 by this time, Jacob can't actually say them yet but he can recognize the numbers 1-10 and proof of that is this video where he plays with the an ipad app.
  6. Like Joshua, he too can go up the stairs without someone's help (but of course we rush when we seem him there). He likes to jump everywhere. He climbs up the table and jump! He jumps off from the bed too! Ack. Still a nightmare.
  7. Again, like his big brother - a food or some singing can keep his terrible two's at bay.
  8. Lastly, like his Ahia, when he does something naughty he can get away with it because he quickly gives me hug and who can resist that cute smile? No mother is safe with their baby's smiles.
This was Joshua when he was 2.

While both my boys have many similarities. They do have differences too.

Appearance-wise, Jacob is on the stockier side while Joshua is leaner. Jacob is also fairer and has curly hair compared to Joshua stick straight hair.

Personality-wise, Jacob is more friendly and bubbly. Joshua was quiet and reserved when he was younger. While they both love to sing and dance, Jacob isn't afraid to show that to everyone while Joshua needs a lot of prodding before he warms up to an eager audience. He can follow simple instructions, he can recognize people, he says hi a lot even to strangers. He can belt out "Old McDonald" and does not care for distractions!

He is little Jacob at 2 with me. My little super star in the making.

My Top Beauty Products Now.

Monday, October 17, 2011

If you read any of my posts with any regularity, you will know that I am a girly-girl. I can't go out the house bare of makeup and accessories. I can live with my wedding band and simple pearl earrings and minimal makeup - BB cream and lipstick if I am in a hurry but then given with the perfect time; I'd be dolled up like I'm going somewhere important even though I just need to go to the bank for errands. That's why with all the goo and product I put in there, I make sure to take it all off at night and let my skin breathe. I was wondering what skin care products other girls use and swear by?

My top 5 beauty essentials right now.

  1. Faceshop Tinted Aqua BB Cream
  2. MAC Lipstick (TWIG)
  3. Ponds Facial Wash
  4. Etude House Moistfull Collagen Toner
  5. Ponds Flawless Radiance Blemish Prevention UV Cream

My Laptop Overheats!

Friday, October 14, 2011

My 2-year old 1545 Dell Inspiron and it works fine up until a few months back when it started to shut-down unexpectedly. I noticed that it shuts down when it becomes too hot. So, I made sure to prop it up and turn it off as much as possible. Soon, only after 10 minutes - it shuts down and I can't use it properly. I don't play games with it or use it heavy programs. I only use it for watching videos or facebook. I had to google about the problem and found out that indeed, my lappy overheats prolly because the fan stopped working.

I followed the steps indicated in the manual and lo and behold! I retrieved this much LINT! DUST BUNNY ALERT! My gosh. 2 yrs worth og gunk. No wonder it gave up on me! Good thing my motherboard didn't get busted.

No Other

Wednesday, October 5, 2011

Have you watched the much talked about local movie, No Other Woman yet? Nah? Better catch it while it is still playing in the local cinemas. My friends and I watched it last Sunday and we all agreed that it was money well spent. Even though I had to line up at 11am for the 4pm showing to buy the tix, no regrets since the movie delivered.

Basically, the story revolves around a young married couple, Ram (played by Derek Ramsey) and Charmaine (played by Christine Reyes) who is perfectly happy until the driven Ram found himself in the midst of Kara (Anne Curtis), an heiress who enlisted Ram to be the supplier of tasteful furniture - not hickory furniture but modern looking one's for a resort, but if you are looking for a log cabin, it will do too.

Anyway, it started with a kiss which was supposed to be nothing, but then led to love. Some quotes which I got.

“No pressure! And kiss me and don’t you dare fall in love with me.” - Kara, No Other Woman

“We’re just two consenting adults having fun, there’s no emotional attachment.” - Kara, No Other Woman

Then when Kara's character fell in love, this is where the plot thickens.

“You will only be called a mistress when there’s an emotional attachment. I’m not a mistress.” - Kara, No Other Woman

“I’m not gonna give up Ram without putting up a god damn fight!” - Kara, No Other Woman

Then, of course, the wife finds out:

“Ang mundo ay isang malaking Quiapo, maraming snatcher, maagawan ka, lumaban ka!" Charmaine's Mom, No Other Woman

“Tsaka ano bang mahirap kalaban? Yung putang mahirap o yung putang mayaman? - Charmaine, No Other Woman

“Pareparehong puta lang yun! Ang mayaman bumibili ng hermes sa mall, ang mahirap bumibili ng hermes sa greenhills.” - Charmaine's Mom, No Other Woman

There's a catfight in there too.

“Sabi nila, a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Sa ganda mong yan, siguro madami kang alam na shortcuts." - Charmaine, No Other Woman

“You can call me whatever you want,SNAKE, BITCH or OTHER WOMAN, but I promise you, I will never be a PATHETIC and BORING housewife.” - Kara, No Other Woman

But, in the end, the mistress accepts defeat and both the husband and herself are repentant and sorry for their actions.

“Every day I’m trying to convince myself na mamahalin din nya ako, pero sayo pa din sya umuuwi." - Kara
Go and have fun with your friends, drag your significant other too! Maybe he'll learn a lesson from the movie!

Guilty Screen Pleasures

Right now, my guilty boob-tube pleasures are:

  1. Pretty Little Liars - I've only recently learned about this from my highschool cousin who swears by it. Since I so love highschool themed shows, I tried and got hooked. Watched the entire Season 1 in just under a week. I can't wait to find out who A is!
  2. 90210 - Highschool themed! What did I tell you?
  3. Gossip Girl - At least highschool ended for these upper east-siders 2 yrs ago. Serena in California now? Blaire marrying a Prince? Elizabeth Hurley? Now this season is a much watch.
  4. ANTM - All Stars! Need I explain? Although, I am getting tired of Tyra. LOL
  5. How I Met Your Mother - Barney's character is hilarious.
  6. Modern Family
  7. Two and a Half Men - I gotta see what Ashton can do.
So, those are mine. What's yours? If you look at my list closely you will notice that they are all a bunch of light and funny shows. I rarely get to watch TV nowadays and when I do - I make sure it relaxes and amuses me.
