More Parties Coming Up

Thursday, December 29, 2011

A friend posted a question on twitter on which Christmas was better; Now that we're older or when we were younger???

My answer was a resounding : YOUNGER!

I still believe that receiving gifts is better than giving =) I'm not completely a selfish cow here, it's just that when you become a parent and responsibilities come your way + the expectation that you have to give gifts is kind of overwhelming and stressful during the holiday seasons.

Gone were the days when you wake up on Christmas day and find your Christmas stocking stuffed with goodies. You spend the whole day at home eating your loot and deciding on whether to finish everything now or tomorrow.

A mother's job does not have an off button switch - it does not have a holiday - it is a 24/7 job which needs your full attention. As a mom, whether it's a normal morning or a Christmas morning, you wake up and recall the stuff you need to get done for the day.

  • Grocery shopping.
  • Paying bills.
  • Last minute shopping for the odd relative here and there. Although I already have leather gift ideas I am still undecided between a wallet (classic) or belt?
  • Work (yes, we have work on the 27th 28th and 29th)
  • Son having fever so you have to give him meds and bring him to the doctor.
  • Household issues (maids not doing their jobs properly!)
I have a few more parties to attend in the next couple of days and I was asked what my wishlist was for our exchanging gift segment; can I just say - a day off from being a grown up??? LOL as if that's possible, but wouldn't it be fun though?

The Best

Wednesday, December 28, 2011

Working on a wednesday - it's the 28th of December and I feel like going on a long vacation!!! I really hate it when holidays sandwhich work days. I mean, can't employeers have mercy and just declare the whole of December and half of January a holiday??? LOL.

Seriously though, my family will be having a reunion for the New Year and we have to have a presentation per family.

We've been thinking about what we'll present .. and I think we've settled on dancing to the tune and the chorio of this song.

Keribels?

We'll see!

Holiday Getaway For Us.

Wednesday, December 7, 2011

My husband and I only get to have "alone time" with each other two times a year (at most!!!). He works in Norway and comes home for a month in July and for a month in December. While some may find this setup unbearable - distance actually forces us to talk more with each other. We talk about anything – the kids, my thoughts, my errands, his gatherings there with the other Filipino workers, anything! Plus, missing each other so much makes the heart grow fonder. So when the time comes and we do meet again it is magical. Sparks all around, I tell you. We rarely fight because it’s harder to fight when you are far plus you get to appreciate what you have when you are given time constraints. We cherish the moments we're physically together. Last July we went to Boracay, this December we were planning on going out of the country for a change. Since we've been to Hongkong and Singapore - the next best thing is Macau. You see, my Husband in his solitude overseas enjoys games online and he would like to try the real thing this time. We still plan to pass by Singapore because we have a lot of friends and relatives there however we’ve thought of Macau because we love to try the casinos! Did you know that Macau's economy is based largely on tourism? People flock to Macau for its casinos. Gambling revenue has made Macau the world's top casino market, surpassing even the obvious choice, Las Vegas.

However, if you don't have the luxury of time - and going out of the house is a problem, then why don't you try bingo games online? I've seen a lot people play and enjoy online bingo for cash. My husband has been hooked with online games - his poison of choice? Poker. You see, I can never pull-off that famous "poker face" so I stick with games of chance like bingo and slots. Suprisingly, it is lots of fun - just be careful and don't get addicted!

Jazzy Kid

Our family has a musical background. In my own mother's side of the family, there are singers and musical instrument players. In my fathers side; he has a nephew who is a fairly popular jazz artist in the US. My mother-in-law play the piano very well and my aunt can even learn a song without knowing the chords. Now, I am pretty sure that's pure talent right there.

So it's no wonder why my kids are musical as well – specifically my 2 year old who hums songs even though he can’t really speak yet. My boy may be too young now but I intend to enroll him in music classes as soon as he is able to. I am thinking guitar lessons are in order. He’s a guy and it’s sexy to see guys who know how to strum his stuff with a guitar.

I was wondering how much a basic jazz guitar would cost. Why jazz? Because it runds in the family and Jacob can’t stop swaying to it when my dad plays it in the car. Just my luck because I came across Fender Jazz Bass online! Then, just in time for the Holidays some of its guitars are on sale - their best seller - the Starcaster Jazz Bass looks perfect for Jacob. Well, I can imagine him playing it. I'd be his #1 fan in time if that happens.

Music and Jacob

Tuesday, December 6, 2011

Little Jacob is 2years and 2months already.

He does not talk that much yet; only words like "Mommy", "Daddy", "Mimi" (milk), "Lolo", "Lola", "ee" (eat) are what he says most of the time. However, he babbles a lot and likes to sing! He can hum a tune and dance to songs like, Mr. Sun, Twinkle Twinkle and Insy Weensy Spider. He knows the Alphabet and its corresponding sounds, he knows how to count actually from 1 thru 10. He can even arrange the numbers in its correct sequence! I am one proud momma bear.

One thing is for sure, he has a passion for music. His paternal grandmother gave him a keyboard for his 2nd birthday and he loves it! Check out the video and you'll see him belt out the song Old McDonald. His brother who was playing with a ball at the side accidentally hit him but did this stop him from singing???

Watch and see.

This Christmas, since he's such a good boy - Santa might just give him a musical instrument? But what?

Drums is far too noisy. He already has a keyboard.

A guitar! Right! I had a phase before in highschool where I was obsessed about learning how to play guitar. The tips of my fingers was hardened with all the practicing and strumming, however, boys took over and soon the jamming stopped. For my kids, I want them to really love music. Maybe a guitar is a great gift option for baby Jacob.

Yoga+Aerobics

Just got an invitation for a childrens party this Saturday and I am quite excited.

For a children's party, why am I the one excited??

Well.........it is because while the kids are enjoying their kiddie party, the parents can enjoy a 1-hour free session of aerobic-yoga c/o the birthday girl's mom! You see she is a banker by day and a yoga instructor by night. AND a great instructor at that - I've seen her yoga class and it is with the kids at times! Its great really. She has invited me countless time but I've refused thinking that YOGA is not for me. I feel like I'm such a scatterbrain that I'm not one who can take meditative poses seriously without getting bored.

I was thinking that Zumba is a better fit for my kind of personality. But I guess this one is different because it is aerobics+yoga! Hmmmm.

OOOOhhhh I took one of those personality tests in FB and I got this result. It says

So true!!! LOL

Supplies Galore

Monday, December 5, 2011

It's weird but I enjoy shopping for supplies. When I was in school - it was school supplies, now it's office supplies. My desk is small but I may it work by using an in/out tray, I have magazine containers which I use as folder containers, I have pen organizers, I have countless pens, pencils, markers and highlighters. I guess working is made easier with the right kind of supplies.

Right now - what my desk needs are:

  1. screen cleaning kit
  2. led motion clock (just because it looks so cool)
  3. calculator - nyahaha my sister/boss is pissed at me for borrowing hers!
I hope the boss aka my dad will give away one of those in my wishlist so I won't need to buy for myself. I guess, one of the perks of working for you father is having the power to persuade him on what gifts to giveaway the employees (that's including us) this Christmas.

Which Is it?

I am watching reruns of Sex and the City and I've realized something - I dislike Carrie's character!!! When I was younger, I guess I could relate with her (and her mistakes). Now that I have kids (and married)...well, priorities change and I guess I'm wiser(!).

I took a test and lo and behold this is the result.

You Are Most Like Charlotte!

You are the ultimate romantic idealist

You've been hurt before, but that hasn't caused you to give up on love.

If anything, your resolve to fall in love is stronger than ever.

And it's this feminine optimism that men find most appealing about you.

Romantic prediction: That guy you are seeing (or crushing on)?

Could be very serious - if you play your cards right!

I used to be "so Carrie". Now, the ideals are more Charlotte through and through but my choice of clothes and hairstyle??? Carrie all the way.

However, I wish to age gracefully like Samantha.
